Carriage House Restaurant offers a Brunch Buffet every Sunday for under $15 per person, and Mother's Day was no exception. Not surprisingly there was a line out the door, but we were seated fairly quickly for such a large crowd. The Buffet selection is huge, featuring a full choice of breakfast foods, including pancakes, omelets, Eggs Benedict, donuts, muffins, coffee and juice, as well as full Sunday dinner, with peel and eat shrimp, stuffed peppers, Chicken Alfredo, Sirloin tips, garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, wonderful roast ham, turkey and beef, sliced personally in front of you, and much more. Also included in the price of the Buffet is a full dessert table, with strawberry shortcake, a variety of pies, and bread pudding, just to name a few.
The Seafood Pie and Seafood Bisque both offer huge chunks of seafood, and are quite flavorful. The roasts are cooked to perfection, including a very moist and juicy turkey, and the Eggs Benedict also really stand out as one of my favorites.
The Sunday Brunch is far from the only reason to dine at Carriage House. Every Thursday evening is any two meals for $20. This is an incredible deal, since everything on the menu is available for this price, including Prime Rib and seafood plates, which each can go for over $17 at regular prices. The portions are generous, and include choice of potatoes or rice, plus a vegetable.
The Black Diamond steak dinner and the Surf and Turf are delicious, as well as the Chicken Cordon Bleu and pasta dishes. The drinks are also very good, offering a full bar and many good beer and wine choices, as well as fountain drinks, juice and milk.
There are also other specials throughout the week, including take out only specials. Even at their regular prices, the food and atmosphere is worth the money. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food is prepared with care.
Carriage House Restaurant is located at 660 Spring Street, Rte. 12, Winchendon, MA. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 4-9pm, Sunday Brunch from 9am to 2pm and Sunday Dinner from 2-7pm. They are closed on Monday & Tuesday. All major credit cards are accepted, and there is also a function room available for private parties and occasions.
