The Cashmere Mafia: So Far so Good

Review of Episode 4

"I am a Woman of My Word"

Cashmere Mafia is a witty, fashionable, intriguing and hot new show on ABC. First of all I have to applaud ABC for allowing such a wonderful adult program to be seen on their network. That was a great move. Also it did not hurt that since the ending of Sex and City, so many of those fans are craving for a show as good as that one. Well Cashmere Mafia is no Sex and the City, and that just may be the reason why this program lasts.

The leading women in the show are a bit light hearted and fictional but this make sit great and not a carbon copy of that other show. The character Mia is a smart new publisher of a company who has lost her finance because he could not handle a strong woman. Although that plot is wonderful, it did seem forced and hard for the audience to really get attached to it. From the pilot it was not believable that Mia and the foe fiancée were in love.

The other female's characters, Zoe, Juliet and Caitlin are hilarious in their own way but the best character out of the group would be Caitlin. She is a mess, and the actress Bonnie Somerville makes her so believable. Whether you are undecided, a lesbian, a bisexual or just straight you can relate to the way Caitlin thinks and feels. She parties, runs a successful business and still doesn't have a clue as to what she wants out of life. Her character alone makes you want to tune in to next episode to see what will happen next.

Episode four really states to the viewers and the critics that Cashmere Mafia can hold its own. You see the development of Juliet who moves on from being overwhelmed with mistrust for her husband Davis to a woman who stands by her word. The most emotion that I have gotten from the show came from her seen when she finally makes a decision about her marriage. Mia falls into the trap that most dumped women do when faced with seeing their ex again. Mia brings a gorgeous man with her to a party to for the benefit of whom? Also Zoe, the strongest female character on the show once again shows that she cannot be pushed around when she tells it like it is in front of associates.

Finally, Caitlin is doing what she does best, going with the flow. In this case she kind of meets someone new and drops her number but is she still dating Alisha? Hopefully Cashmere Mafia will only get better with age, and if the plots fail at least the fashion will be fabulous.
