The Catholic Church and the Mixed Messages it Sends Regarding the Sanctity of Life

Cheryl Williams
Something is horribly wrong in a church hierarchy that preaches so strongly against the abortion of innocent babies, yet at the same time has no problem covering up the sexual abuse of children at the hands of pedophile priests. Is an unborn life more precious than one that has been born? To those who choose to live under the secrecy and lies of the vast cover-up within the Catholic Church, it appears to be the case...and this seems to be the case with the Pope as well.

Hearing the Pope called "His Holiness, Vicar of Christ and infallible" makes my skin crawl when I think of the children who have been harmed as a result of his failure to hold accountable those priests who would harm children. Apparently, running from accountability is the way things are done within the hierarchy of the Catholic Church.

If children came forward in my own church reporting sexual abuse at the hands of the minister, he would be removed and brought to justice with lightening speed. The elders and deacons would not try and cover it up. The church conference leaders would not try and cover it up. The minister would not be transferred to another church so he could molest more children. Church leaders would do every single thing in their power to see that justice was done and that the victims received the help they would need to overcome their ordeal.

There is no reason the Pope can not be asked to step down from his position. There is no reason why He can not be held accountable for the part he has played in the cover up. He is NOT infallible. The Pope is a man, and to anyone who has ever thought otherwise, this should be proof.

If the Pope truly has love for the Church, for God and for the children that have been harmed, he will step forward and admit responsibility for the part he has played in the cover up within the church. Nobody was more humble than Jesus Christ. If the Pope truly is the Vicar of Christ....the face of Christ on this earth...then He needs to do what Christ himself would do and admit his wrongdoing. Of course, Jesus would never have done what the Pope did. Jesus is God.

The Pope is just a man.

Don't support a child abusing system. Find another church.

Great article! Remember what Jesus said, (and I'm paraphrasing here): woe to anyone who harms a child...it would be better to have a stone tied to you and for you to be dropped into the ocean then face him afterwards.

I agree, the Pope should admit culpability in the coverup. He needs to say "no More" and stop hiding the abuse.

The Catholic church temple of the fallen angel himself.
