All who live have suffered the loss of death and disease, misfortune has touched us all, and we call it evil. This evil we seek to escape, we yearn for escape and relief. We rush into various paths seeking to gain our happiness and peace that will not disappear at the first sign of trouble.
We cry out against our tribulations, the child who seeks to be an adult, the adult who mourns lost childhood, the poor who chafe against the shackles of poverty and the rich who live in fear.
There are those who seek their happiness through sensual pleasure, the drunk, the drug addict, the harlot. There are those who seek through their exertions, the athlete, the aesthetic, and the dare devil. There are those who seek through the path of religion, who seek consolation through mystic rites and self deprivation, but some situation arises proving the religion to insufficient and all that has been labored for is destroyed in an instant.
To all who seek; comes for a while some happiness and then evil again returns with its misery and sorrow. Misfortune again besets you and destroys your happiness and security. We all live with the threat of evil hanging over our head threatening to destroy us at any moment without warning.
Is there no escape from pain and sorrow? Is happiness, prosperity and peace just foolish dreams? The answer is that there is a way; there is a process where evil can be removed from our lives and calamity can be set aside never to return.
The solution is as simple as it complicated. It is not enough to deny evil as it strikes us; we must seek to understand it through knowledge. Evil is not an abstract idea from outside yourself, it is an experience from your own heart. By patiently examining your self, you will find the nature of the evil, and through this discovery learn how to eradicate it.
All evil is corrective and so is not permanent. Evil is rooted in ignorance, by seeking the knowledge you require you will discover that it was ignorance that caused the evil to beset you, and with your new shield of knowledge you can remove that evil from your life forever. It is to no avail to protest against the things that beset you; you must look into yourself to see what lesson you are to learn.
There is no evil in the universe that is not the result of ignorance. If you would but pay attention and learn the lesson you are being taught, you would be led to higher wisdom and evil would pass away.
Darkness symbolizes evil and light symbolizes good. Darkness is a result of something blocking the light. Goodness is knowledge, and armed with knowledge you can remove the obstacle, or can move your perspective so as to not suffer the darkness. To show that evil is but temporary, every day whether you witness it or not, the sun rises. The world is not kept in perpetual darkness; every day light repels the darkness and brings life to all it touches.
Light replaces darkness just as knowledge replaces ignorance. Light and knowledge bring life and happiness, while darkness and ignorance bring sorrow and pain. Therefore if you wish to free yourself of the evil that surrounds you, you must be willing and ready to learn. Be prepared to undertake the disciplinary process through which wisdom and happiness can be obtained.
When you fully grasp this truth you will be in a position to master your own circumstances, turn evil to good, and weave your own destiny.
Be Blessed
