The Cell Phone Controversy Potential Health Risk

Low Frequency Radio Waves Emmited

There has been a lot of controversy over the use of cell phones and if they affect the health of the people who use them. Cell phones and cordless phones emit low frequency radio waves that can penetrate matter. Quality long term research studies in America and in Europe have indicated that long term continuous use could be potentially harmful.

The Dr. Oz show that aired 11-17-2009 had a guest and his family appears on this show. The man and his wife have known each other since they were fifteen years old. They are still married now for more than forty years. Here was a man who worked for the Kennedy Administration for many years. The man said that for a period of at least ten years he was on his cell phone constantly. He said that he used it for two thousand minutes a month and he always held the cell phone to his right ear.

One day his wife noticed that his personality was changing. Then not long after that he had a seizure. Alarmed, his family took him to be examined medically. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor and it was located in the right side of his brain. He says that he believes there is a connection to his tumor and his profuse prolonged cell phone use.

There are five things that were mentioned to protect cell phone users.

1. Use a speaker phone, a wire headset, a sun visor device, or dash mounted device when in the car or truck.

2. Use the phone less. Stay on the phone for shorter periods of time. Ask others to text, voice, or e-mail you.

3. Turn off the cell phone when it is on your waist band and when it is in your pocket and purse. Many women carry their purses up close to their breast level. Turn off the phone when not in use. Protect the testes and the ovaries. Studies show a decreased sperm count when the cell phone was turned on and in kept in the pocket or when it was on and attached to the waist band.

4. Do not use ear pieces that fit on the ear to use in place of the hand held cell phone. These emit low frequency radio waves that can penetrate bone and brain and lymph glands. Long term and constant use could be risky.

5. Do not use the cell phone when the signal is weak or fading out. Low frequency radio waves are still present even though you may be out ofthe range of the tower. More studies are pending. In the meantime keep safety in mind and enjoy your cell phone.
