The Celtic Exchange in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania Offers Unique Jewelry and Gifts

When it comes to histories I admire, the Celts would not exactly top my list. I'm a much bigger fan of the Roman legions and later the German tribes that went through their lands, but even I have to grudgingly admit they and the current Celts today make really good jewelry and have lively music far better than you would hear on any country music station.

I first encountered Celtic knot work when I was big into White Wolf games, but out of curiosity I entered a shop called the Celtic Exchange on Market Street in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. For many years I found the shops seemingly erratic hours confusing and I wondered how it stayed in business, however that problem seems to have been sorted out and you can now shop at the store during the posted hours.

Much of what you would buy here is a little on the pricey side, but even if you cannot afford a ring, you will find the workmanship on the jewelry sold quite impressive. There are some lower priced items in the shop, including the famous penny whistle. I've never quite mastered how to play one but I think I will eventually learn some day. If you do not want Celtic jewelry or a penny whistle, the shop carries a selection of other gifts. You can get post cards with Irish, Scottish, Welsh or Pennsylvanian themes, books on Scotland or Ireland, and if memory serves some of the Riverdance videos. For those planning a vacation to Scotland or Ireland or may simply be interested in the history of the respective islands, you can find guides to help you figure out either subject.

Like the Red Lancer's Military Miniatures store in my hometown, this is not a shop I would shop in often. However if I wanted to pick up a special gift or needed something for a special occasion this would probably be on my list of places to look. Odds are you'll be able to get something someone will appreciate here. If not looking for something or if you are low on cash, the Celtic Exchange in Lewisburg is still a fun place to look around. Should you get tired and want a place to rest, the town offers plenty of nearby restaurants or if you just want to set down go down the street a little bit and sit under a tree at Veteran's Park.
