Yes,
That's it!
A cemetery is
DEAD SILENT!
No birds, no flowers
Nothing
Absolutely nothing.
I walk slowly, so as not to upset anything.
I look at each stone carefully,
Some I'm amazed at how long they lived.
Some disgusted at how soon they died.
I think, "I'll be there some day."
"But hopefully not to soon."
Then it happens!
The part I didn't want
I spot a loved one
I turn with a start
Walk away briskly
With a tear in my eye.
As I pass through that gate
I remember the past
Now the tears are coming fast, faster
Than before.
I think, "Why did I go there?"
"I hate that place so."
I vow never to go back,
But I know that won't do
It seemed like forever
But it's only past noon.
