The Change of the Major League Ballpark

Over the past 5 years the ballparks in Major League Baseball have been changing. Over 5 teams have come into a new stadium over that time. These new ballparks were expensive to build and strive to provide the best baseball experience. But this hasn't provided for the best playing conditions for the players. One of the big controversies with these new ballparks is they are too small and home run numbers are inflated. The new Yankee Stadium that opened this year has made this controversy even bigger because it has allowed over 30 home runs to right field in only a limited number of games this year at the park. This may be great for fans but not for the players. Another controversy with the new stadiums is the inflated ticket prices. Some of the older stadiums provide cheaper tickets than the new big market teams who now offer ordinary tickets for at least one hundred dollars. But overall these new ballparks have benefited baseball and its fan despite the ticket prices and the inflated home runs. They provide an experience that will top the experiences of the old stadiums for the fans.

These stadiums have also increased revenue for the teams who create them making the money they spent on them worth it. It better be worth it for teams like the Yankees who spent 1 billion dollars on their new state of the art stadium created to better the old historic Yankee Stadium. And as the teams still in old stadiums begin to change and build new ones. I would expect ticket prices to sky rocket, home runs to occur more often, and the baseball economy boom. But most importantly the fans experience at all the parks will increase and allow the non baseball fanatics to enjoy the game at the ballpark. Now this has not been the case in cities such as Florida. They have wanted a new ballpark because it would bring more fans to the park for the team that has the worst average attendance in the majors. But recently it looks as if they won't be getting that new park as the city and the team have not reached an agreement after many discussions. This is sad to see with a team with so much talent being stuck in a place where the fan environment has been said to be horrible. Creating such new ballparks in cities like Florida will do so much for baseball and its fans.
