The Chevrolet Camaro is Still Standing Tall

David C. Atkin
With all of the talk about electric cars, and hybrids it makes a person wonder if America still loves muscle cars. The Chevrolet Camaro is a great example of a pure muscle car. Over the years Chevrolet has done a great job on the design of the Camaro.

In my opinion America still loves muscle cars, and the Camaro stands at the top of the list. With the new Z28 Camaro that boasts a supercharged 6.2 Liter engine that delivers 556 HP, and an amazing 551 pound feet of torque, this car will satisfy the most discriminating muscle car freak.

But Chevrolet didn't stop with the Z28 Camaro, they will release a new version of the famous ZL1 Camaro in late 2011, the ZL1 will be a 2012 model year car. This is a big step up from the Z28 model. The ZL1 will sport a 750 HP supercharged 427 CI small block Chevrolet engine.

This is enough to make your heart skip a couple of beats. This car could test even the great muscle car freak metal, the 2012 ZL1 Camaro is an upgraded version of the 2011 SS Camaro. With engine and suspension tweaks done by SLP.

This is great news if you love American muscle cars; you just can't deny that this is a great development in the Automotive industry. There is no doubt that this development excites every muscle car guy at the very foundation.

The 2012 ZL1 Camaro will be the top of the food chain, just like the 2011 SS Camaro was. In reality this car will destroy most, if not all of it's competition in the muscle car market. I think that it great that the big three didn't give up on the muscle car market.

This is bound to turn in to a great competition just like it did in the 1960's and 1970's before the insurance companies put the brakes on the entire idea of it. All though things are a done a bit different these days with most on the muscle cars using superchargers to build the performance of the cars.

Back in the day it was all engine and tuning tricks that made these cars perform the way that they did. Now days they all do it using computers to control the engine functions. And we love them just as much as we did in the old days.

These days the new generation of muscle cars is much more dependable, and much more powerful. The handling of these cars has been increased by leaps and bounds. The comfort level of the new muscle cars is beyond reproach when compared to the old days.

Technology has worked it's magic on the automotive industry these days. At the first I didn't like the idea of computers in muscle cars, I am an old school guy. The truth of the matter is that the engines are built much better in the new muscle cars due to the new CNC machining precesses.

I can't deny that they have come a long ways over the past thirty years, yes I still prefer the old school muscle cars over the new ones, but that doesn't mean that they are better cars. It only means that I like them better, but don't get me wrong I would love to own a new ZL1 Camaro.
