A girl doesn't typically need too much to keep herself looking good in the morning: mascara, eyeliner, lipstick, and foundation... But one of the most important things we need to worry about is our hair. Some have naturally straight hair, curly, wavy, or even frizzy hair. Unfortunately, my hair subscribes to the latter attribute. My solution? The best hair straightener I've ever come across: The Chi flat iron. I was first introduced to the Chi the last time I visited a hair salon. I wanted to look good before I took my senior pictures for my last high school year book. That is, after all, the first thing anyone pulls out from the attic to look through. And, as you flip through the pages years later, you can either admire your friends for how they looked or laugh hysterically to yourself in the stillness of the attic; I refused to be that dated, bird-nest-adorning punt-of-the-joke.... So, there I was; sitting atop a stool with a black frock around my neck, staring at my frizzy hair in the mirror. I was pumped to let my dead ends fall to the floor of that little salon once and for all.

As soon as I sat down for my cut, the hairdresser knew I'd been abusing my locks with curling and straightening irons. The best solution, of course, was to cut my ends off, but there was something that she would later recommend. After she'd washed my hair and cut it, it was time to pull out the hair dryer. Grabbing a little bottle that sat by the mirror, she poured a liquid into her hands, rubbed them together, and applied it to my hair. When she finished drying it, she applied more of the treatment and took out an instrument I hadn't been introduced to before. There it was, a black hair straightener with quite a daunting task ahead of it: to tame my frizzy, triangular mane. Could it do the trick? It couldn't possibly... My hair has always had a habit of defying gravity. How could it do the trick if nothing else ever could?

I walked away from that salon not adoring my haircut, (although I really did like it) but rather in awe of how smooth and silky my hair was. In fact, the first words I said to my hairdresser after she'd whirled me around to look in the mirror was, "Wow! My hair's so smooth!" despite the fact that I was missing about 4 inches of hair. That's just how powerful the Chi is. It transformed a head of coarse and frizzy hair into a whole new beast... a tame beast, that is.

Looking through the adjoined shop to the salon, I spotted a Chi for sale on the top shelf. Once I took it down, however, I discovered the price tag to display quite the hefty sum of $119. Feeling like I'd never get to use a Chi ever again, I left the salon despondent. I took my senior pictures later that day with my sleek new hair and knew that it would all be over the next day. But, about a week later, I found a Chi on Ebay and won the auction for the small pittance of $25!

Ever since it arrived in the mail, I've rejoiced in its ineffable power to tame my uncontrollable hair. It's just its uncanny ability to make my hair look so sleek after I get out of the shower that, quite frankly, amazes me. Before I dry my hair, I apply the same solution that my hairdresser once did; it comes from the same company who makes Chi's and it really works wonders. My hairdresser actually recommended this solution, which is heat-resistant and prevents hair from suffering the consequences of a white hot straightener. The Chi really can become extremely hot, so be careful where you set it as it heats up. I once left mine unattended and it left a burn mark on my marble counter. Now I know it was dumb to leave a hot flat iron alone, but it has lead me to conclude that the Chi could benefit from two new features. Number one, there should be a small attachment that allows the Chi to rest without coming in contact with the counter. Number two, it should automatically shut off after a period of thirty minutes or longer. Haven't you ever driven to work wondering if you remembered to turn off your curling iron? This feature would put a lot of minds to rest. And these suggestions aren't entirely unattainable, as they're already available on many curling irons that retail for a fifth of the Chi's list price. With these minor adjustments, I think this flat iron could be the best hair straightening product on the market. It already does an amazing job with taming hair.

So, say goodbye to frizzies, cow licks, and split ends! A solution is upon us. The Chi and its accompanying anti-frizz concoction will save you after every shower, every rain storm, and every morning after a night on the town. Rest assured that the Chi is here to save us!
