However, in this game against the Seattle Seahawks, Rex Grossman finally showed that he belongs in the National football league as he played one of the best games of his young career. Rex Grossman was facing increasing pressure from the fans and media and backup quarterback Brian Griese was waiting in case Rex Grossman screwed up. However, Rex Grossman threw for almost 300 yards and played a great game. He was pressured all game by the Seattle Seahawks defense that constantly blitzed Rex Grossman and dared him to beat them. In the end, that's exactly what he did. In overtime, the Seahawks got the ball first but could not score as they were forced to punt. Then Rex Grossman took over and had a long pass over the middle to one of his receivers. The Bears then ran the ball some more to take even more time off of the clock and to get closer to field goal range. Then kicker Robby Gould of the Chicago Bears hit a 40 plus yard field goal, to the elation of the crowd, fans and coaches to win the game.
Rex Grossman showed everyone that he is the quarterback of the future for this Chicago Bears team that went 13-3 during the regular season and was the number one seeded team in the playoffs and showed why they have home field advantage. The Chicago Bears fans in attendance were very loud, causing some false start penalties by the Seahawks. The only mistake Rex Grossman made was a fumble. He also threw an interception but that was the fault of his receiver Mohamed who did not hang onto the ball and was intercepted upon the deflection.
The Seattle Seahawks offense played well against a very good Chicago Defense as they scored 24 points against the Bears. However, Matt Hassleback struggled most of the game and only had around 200 yards passing. The Seahawks relied on former MVP running back Sean Alexander to carry the load which he did throughout the game.
Now the New Orleans Saints, led by a two headed running attack with Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush, along with the NFC leading passer, Drew Brees, will go to Chicago to take on the Bears. It should be for an exciting game.
