The Child is Forgotten

Charisse Van Horn

(this poem is written in memory of the children whom we see on the news each day- the children whose mothers failed to protect them- and some who willingly handed their children over to those who would destroy them)

The Child is Forgotten

Never caring

Never loving

Never knowing the child you bore

Was the heart and soul- the core- of your dreams

Cold hearted, unfeeling

the party, the crack pipe, the smack, the john is what you crave

the child

is forgotten

the child cries alone

the child

is gone
