The Child Inside

Janis I. Monroe
Help me find her
The little girl I've lost so long ago
She was abused, neglected, and treated so cruel
I held her inside to keep her safe
From a world that seemed too horrible to face

Screaming voices
Violent disagreements
Secretive parents
And unfaithful promises
Were all too much for her to bear

Chorus:
This child inside
She deserves liberation
From her darkest fears and anguish
The lost little girl
She dreams of love and happiness
Emotions cut short in childhood
She misses the times littered with candy
And books of magical fantasies
Hurry darlin' before she dies
Help me to release the child inside
(end)

She's hidden herself from me
Deep in the shadows of my soul
Even now that things have changed
She's still so full of sorrow

Baby, please help me to find her
To release her from her inner world of solitary
Help me search for the key to unlock the prison gate
She needs to be freed
Severed from the chains of monstrosity

Chorus:
This child inside
She deserves liberation
From her darkest fears and anguish
The lost little girl
She dreams of love and happiness
Emotions cut short in childhood
She misses the times littered with candy
And books of magical fantasies
Hurry darlin' before she dies
Help me to release the child inside
(end)
