The NAEYC Accreditation of Programs for Young Children is an organization that offers oversight and accreditation to pre-schools such as our local Children's Pre-School Center on Middlefield Road. One of the ways that they ensure that their accredited schools meet their high standards is a surprise visit at their member schools by NAEYC inspectors.

In August the Children's Pre-School Center was selected for one of these unannounced inspections. This is an all-day process--10 hours total. They look at everything from school records, to classroom activities. The reason these inspections are random and unannounced is to make sure that what the inspector finds is an accurate representation of actual day-to-day operations at the school.

They just received a letter from the NAEYC:

"The administration and teaching staff of The Children's Pre-School Center are all to be congratulated for the continuing efforts to provide a high-quality early childhood program for young children and their families...I commend your program's outstanding efforts in maintaining NAEYC Accreditation," according to Rachel Samoff, Children's Pre-School Center.
