The Christian Foundation: First Lay the Block Then Build the House

Pablo Diaz
Everything in this life, from arts to politics, from economics to philosophy, and from construction to religion; has a foundation. What is a foundation?

Foundation: the basis or groundwork of anything.

From that definition we can assume that a foundation is the start, the first step, the beginning of anything. In a relationship with a loved one, you might have certain characteristics that make up the foundation, the strength, and the base; for trust, communication, and love to grow.

You might ask: What does this have to do with religion?

Well, I just want to explain, briefly, what the foundation of my religion is. I'm a Pentecostal Christian. We believe in the Trinity. What's the Trinity? Well, the Trinity is composed of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

By Father we mean God, the creator of all. The all-knowing supreme being in the universe that made all things and knows all things.

By Son we mean Jesus Christ. The manifestation of God on Earth. The Lord, God, sent us his only Son, Jesus Christ, to rid us of our sins. It was through Jesus Christ that we got the second chance, the chance to be able to repent sins and start from scratch in the name of Jesus to serve Jesus Christ and God.

"16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." [John 3:16-17]By Holy Spirit we mean the presence of God in us. The Holy Spirit moves, it has feelings, its alive, its real, its like a person. It does not have a shape, its like a person with no body. It manifests itself on us when God speaks to us. It tells us right from wrong and it wants us to follow the path that Jesus Christ carved before us.

Those are the main things that make up my religion, Pentecostalism. However, Pentecostalism mainly deals with the Holy Spirit and its work with us. We Pentecostals seek the Holy Spirit to better communicate with God and to feel his presence in us. Once we are Baptized by the Holy Spirit, touched by the Spirit in other words, we either speak in Tongues and or dance in the Spirit.

By Speaking in Tongues we mean being able to speak foreign languages that we have no knowledge of. It also means being able to interpret those languages when we have no knowledge of them.

"1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."
God can use the Holy Spirit to grant us gifts. Some of which are: the gift of prophecy, the gift of speaking and interpreting tongues. Those are just a couple, look in the Bible and you'll find:

"7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines."[1 Corinthians 12:7-11]

There you have it, that is the basic foundation of the Pentecostal belief in Christianity. If I had more time I would go in greater detail, but as usual I ran short of time. I will, however, keep discussing Pentecostalism for a while longer here in this blog as well as talking about other messages that I may have or feel the need to speak about. Please make sure to keep checking back frequently, as I will try to update this as often as possible. You can look on the right side of the page and look for the RSS Feed, click it and subscribe to be updated automatically of any updates to this blog.

Now, my brother, as always, do God's will, follow Jesus Christ's path and let the Holy Spirit manifest upon you. Glory be to God and blessed are those who follow him. Amen to you my friend, let the world know of God's good work. Preach the good news to every as Jesus wants you to do. I'm trying to do my part here with my blog, let your friends know. God Bless you!
