I just wanted to write about a friend I have in Atlanta who is struggling after a nasty divorce. The church she is going to is not really helping her much and she is living in terrible conditions. She has a baby about 8-12 months old and the baby is now very sick. The place they live in you can see the pipes in the walls and the walls have no insulation.
My friend has a master's degree in criminal justice, but cannot find a job. There are more nasty details that I could say about the "believers" that do not help her out, but I will refrain my tongue from saying anything. I know the Lord will judge each one of us according to our deeds.
Church should not be like this. We were commanded by Jesus to love one another and be there for one another. The Scriptures say that we should do good ESPECIALLY to believers in Christ. She is one, yet most do not give a crap. You can tell that I am furious with this attitude and I believe Jesus is, too. It is like the hypocrites who just talk about God, but are not willing to do His will.
Jesus said that the world will know that we are His by our love for one another. I am sick of the excuses that we believers use, "Well since she is not family , I cannot help her". Believers are your family. Jesus said, " Who is my mom and my brothers? Those who do the will of God". Those are we should think about, too. Jesus was talking about those who believe in Him. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are struggling and suffering in our local churches, yet we ignore them. Some of us make tons of money, have a business or maybe even 2-3, yet God forbid that we should help out someone in need.
Some people need support in starting from scratch. My friend went through a divorce and now she has to start over. How would you feel if you were in her shoes and no one would care to give you a hand to get up on your feet? It is not the government's job to care for the church. It is our job to care for one another. We need to leave aside the excuses and fears and questions. If Jesus came to my house should I turn Him away? Guess what? He said then whenever we do something for someone, we do it to Him. Do we really believe that or not? Cause if we really saw Jesus in the flesh many of us out of fear would jump to do something for Him, yet He said that every time we do something for someone it IS for HIM ( Matthew 25).
...Especially if you were in a foreign country with no family, your husband left you for someone else and he calls himself a believer and now you have to start over...wouldn't you be grateful if someone just put aside all the excuses and helped you get back on your feet?
My friend needs someone to watch her child while she goes to work. She needs a place to live, but instead of the church helping her, they spend 100,000 dollars or more on a conference that no one really cares to see and ignore a mother who needs help. Is that ok? If you can spend that kind of money on a stupid conference that we do not need, for sure you can rent a better apartment for a poor person for a year with that money and help her with her child.
I am so angry with what I see in the church and I will not stop until I expose all the ugliness of Christianity. No wonder, people do not want to have anything to do with us when they do not see love among us!
Our brothers and sisters in Christ are struggling and having a hard time , yet our excuses prevent us from helping. We are selfish and we have no love. It is time to be real Christians where we lay down our own comfort, our own plans, and even our own families. We are supposed to do good especially to those in faith. That means if your mom is not a believer, but another woman is, you are supposed to do the second person good ESPECIALLY. Those in faith are our true bothers and sisters; our true family.
I am not against helping our own families, but someone told me once, " Well, I will watch the children of my daughter because they are my grandkids". What is one more kid to watch, while your sister in Christ goes and works since she has no one else? Why would the government take care of her kids or her, when you are part of the body of Jesus?
We need to open our eyes and look around in our local church especially and see those who need a hand. Some of them are hard working, single parents, and hurting. They try and try and try, but they just do not know how to get it right. We need to carry one another's burdens. What kind od Christianity is this if we only care about our own? Jesus said ," If you only hug your own/love your own, what reward will you receive?" The answer is: NONE. But when you do something for someone who is not really your own family, but a neighbor, someone from church, etc. , then God will reward you.
We will all die one day and I believe none of us wants to be like the rich man that gathered and gathered and ignored Lazarus and ended up in hell.
You have a gold necklace? Sell it and pay someone's power bill. You have an antique picture just for decoration? Who cares? You are not going to take it with you when you die, but if you use that picture and sell it and take the money and buy some food for someone, believe me, you will have a treasure in Heaven. It is time to stop just talking about the Bible and start to really apply it. Jesus commanded love. He did not give us an option about that.
Some gather and gather and gather. The more they have, the more they want. How can we do that, when in our own churches and when our own brothers and sisters in Christ suffer and lack? God is not punishing them! He is wanting to use you to bless, so you will be blessed. You will reap what you sow. Even non-believers say, "What comes around, goes around". Even they know. Galatians 6 talks about how God will not allow Himself to be mocked. What you sow, you will reap. Really, when was the last time you gave to someone? Not to the church offering. Some of those churches I would not give anything myself. Why should I? So, we can have bigger pews, more comfortable empty chairs, and a 10,000 dollars church sign? It doesn't make a difference in people's lives. Money and stuff need to be given directly to the poor.
Please understand. I am not mad at you. I am just passionate about what God wants. He loves us all and especially His children. You would not let your sister die of hunger ( I am talking about your blood relative). Well, your sister in Christ is still your sister because now you have a common DAD: God. Shouldn't we feel compassion and love one another then even more?
Let us all take a look around our homes and start selling a few things that no one cares about and some of those things that just sit there and could benefit someone since we barely ever use them.
Collect a treasure in Heaven. Sometimes is not money. Sometimes it is just watching a baby so that someone can go work until things get better. " Do unto others as you would want them do unto you if you were in their shoes", remember? Jesus is not wanting us to just memorize verses and show how much we have in our heads, but really apply this, because one day it might be you; and sometimes just spending time with someone to cry out their pain or just to show them how to make it just as you did it is all thatr is needed.
Hmm...I really feel for those hurting. I desire so much to start a company that helps people get back on their feet. No I am not talking about homeless shelters. Please do not even try to give that excuse. Would you like to live in one? Then why would you not rather offer your home and let someone live there or at least help them move into their own place..not a homeless shelter? It is easy to tell others where to live and what to do, when it is not us. But God has been teaching me about feeling with those who hurt as He does and then everything changes.
By the way...if you live in the Atlanta area or there is any way you could help this young mom, please let me know. Or if you are an entrepreuner and could help her have a job , but something that pays well, in case she needs to put her child in daycare, that would be awesome! She would be so surprised. She is broken enough. I have no idea how she makes it. I think we could put our hands together and do it.
What do you think?

The bible says the love of many will grow cold in the last days. The bible teaches on feeding the poor and visiting those in prisons, etc.
Sadly today those divorced and standing in God's word are judged or criticized more than those who "remarry". I can relate to the sister and say "keep hope in God". God is faithful and He never leaves or forsakes you. I've lived through very troubled times and have seen God's hand supplying. He is our supplier. Claim on Him and He will supply. Remember, we are more precious to Him than the birds and they are fed daily. Read His word on faithfulness and how He's our supplier. Feed yourself in His word to keep you strong in the faith. When everyone else fails you, remember He does not. I pray and know He will show you great things. He attends to the hearts of the humble and contrite in Spirit. Remember, the Holy Spirit is your comforter and counsler. You belong to Jesus and no one can take
How are you helping your friend? Do you offer to babysit, buy groceries, go to the local second hand store and buy a coat? There is a lot you can do too. Maybe the people at the church don't know the dire situation of this women....has she been in church awhile? Does she come to church often? Please don't judge a church on lack of charity, you may not know how many are being helped and no one even says a word, they do it quietly. Remember, a church is a ministry, not a local charity. You can not just walk in and ask for help, and then become angry if the help is not to your liking. What does your friend do at the church? Is she involved in children ministry's? Does she know individuals well. Can she appeal to her sunday school class, does she attend sunday school? Good luck to her, and to you. Try not to place all blame at the churches doorstep if you don't get everything you want.....maybe by first providing charity, you may learn a lesson or too about rec
This is so sad my friend. As a pastor, our church is not like this. God forgive them...to be a true Christ follower is to be like Christ Himself.
True church will stand by poor people and stand for right reasons but you know that there are lots of carnal churches for them its a mode of making business for their benefit.
Your friend needs to find another church. cheers :)
