United States of America
The city of Circleville closes off several blocks for the festivities. The festival runs from Thursday to Saturday and features a nightly parade, unusual and gigantic pumpkins grown locally, hundreds of vendors and local artisans. Admission is always free at the Circleville Pumpkin Show, and this is one of the best annual festivals in Ohio. The Circleville Pumpkin Show will be celebrating its 101st anniversary this October.
The world's largest pumpkin pie is made at the Circleville Pumpkin Show each year. This huge pie is about 30 feet in diameter. You can try an astronomical amount of pumpkin delacsies ranging from Pumpkin Fudge to Pumpkin Funnel Cakes, and even Pumpkin Chili. Pumpkin souvenirs are widely available as well.
The Circleville Pumpkin Show is fun for the whole family, and is sure to be a hit with your family. The Pumpkin Show offers games, rides and booths. A great arcade is set up each year as well as the famous cane game. You can play for a quarter and possibly win a cane. It is fun, affordable and not rigged as most carnival games are.
The Circleville Pumpkin Show attracts a large crowd every year. Entertainment is offered nightly, and it is easy to forget where all you have been while wandering around this huge festival. While in Circleville stop by Tootles bar for a world famous pumpkin beer. You can also find pumpkin whoopee pies, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin taffy and pumpkin pie just to name a few. If you are interested you can purchase some of the pumpkins entered into the competitions as well.
This festival is one of a kind, unique and affordable. Parking is sometimes hard to find, but many residents of Circleville will allow you to park in their driveways for a fee of about five dollars. I would recommend the Circleville Pumpkin Show to anyone who enjoys fall activities; this festival is the end of the festivals in Ohio each season. There is no better way to end the fair and festival season in Ohio, compared to the Circleville Pumpkin Show. It is a perfect kick off for Halloween and after attending the Circleville Pumpkin Show you will certainly be ready to carve your own pumpkins.
