How can I find jobs in industries which are expanding?
If grads in the Class of 2011 are looking to fnd jobs, they have to know how and which industries have been impacted in the current recession. Not all industries have been impacted the same way. Some have contracted and some have expanded. Each graduate in the Class of 2011, should look through this list from Kelly Services of the top 25 fastest growing industries. There are also similiar lists that should be a part of a new grad job search strategy?
How can I use my college major to find a job?
Some new college grads in the Class of 2011 will make the big mistake of clinging to their college majors. New college grads must understand the difference between choosing a college major a now choosing a career. For example, not all Political Science majors work in Politics and not all Psychology majors become Psychologists. New college grads must think beyond the college major.

College career centers are still the best way for new college graduates to connect with employers looking for new grads in the Class of 2011. In the 2010 survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, 71% of the students who received job offers had used their college career centers.

Seriously good advice, Marcie! My own daughter is looking actively for her first professional job so this topic is very prominent for me right now. I totally agree with your point about not looking for jobs so directly connected to your college major.
