The Classic Charm of Pearls Never Goes Out of Style

Julie Boehlke
This year celebrities and debutantes alike are sporting more pearls than any other piece of jewelry. Rising again in popularity, Hollywood's elite are wearing and showing off their finest pieces. You don't have to be a celebrity or spend a fortune to go out and purchase a fine set of pearls. Faux pearls work well too, and no one will know that you are wearing a fake but you!

So grab Grandma's pearls out of the back of your jewelry armoire and start wearing them!

The different styles in which pearls can be worn are not just your simple basic one stranded pieces, there are many different ways to achieve a look that suits you and your sense of style perfectly.

The several strand look is achieved by stacking several strands of pearls tightly on the neck. No, don't think Cleopatra, think Rita Hayworth and how gorgeous she looked in her classic pearls. Stackable loose flowing strands are definitely "in" on the Sunset Strip as Kate Bosworth has been spotted out on the town sporting her pearls below her neckline. This look makes her seemingly heart shaped face balance out her small chin and broad forehead.

Pearls and Brooches were very popular back in the 30's. The style has seemingly been on the rise especially more on the East coast where vintage jewelry is thriving. Audrey Hepburn has always been known to wear her classic pearls with the centerpiece brooch that took center stage and drew much attention to her neckline. Now the more downsized version is a few strands of pearls with a pretty brooch being sported on the side instead of the center. Very trendy right now. Emmy Rossum the star from Phantom of the Opera has been seen in a similar stunning piece strutting the red carpet. Do you think the Phantom would approve?

The V shaped choker never goes out of style and is perfect for those of us with round faces as it draws attention down making the face appear longer. Grace Kelly a legend in her own right, and always looked dashing and perfect in this style of Pearls.

What about pearl earrings? You have to have them to match out your set, although Pearl Drop Earrings are perfect by themselves. Carmen Electra has electrified Hollywood with her latest scene wearing a pair of rich dangling pearls. She looked hot. Speaking of some who like it hot, Marilyn Monroe was seen repeatedly with her pearl drop earrings. Who could forget her.

Lastly, I must touch on cleaning your pearls. Faux Pearls can withstand a rough scrubbing, but real authentic pearls require very gentle care. Polish your pearls with a light lint free cloth that wont scratch your jewelry. To keep them extra luminous, spray your perfume or hairspray on first before slipping on your pearls.

No matter how you choose to wear them or what you wear them with, the Classic and Chic Pearl is a treasure that can take you anywhere!

I wear small pearl earrings 24/7. They are comfortable and go with everything.

Great article. I am really not a jewelry wearing person but do get it out and look at it.
