The Cockatiel Playland by Acrobird: Hours of Fun for Cockatiels and Parakeets

Valerie Hansen
The Cockatiel Playland by Acrobird features many ladders, two food/treat cups, a plastic chain, and a nice easy to wipe bottom. Despite its name, the Cockatiel Playland is also suitable for parakeets. The ladder size is small enough that parakeets can also use this bird gym. You can attach some extra toys onto this bird gym as well and your bird will stay there all day. This is a really nice bird gym to start with so that your bird has a good amount of room and you have somewhere outside the cage to set your bird down and have them entertain themselves.

Hours of Fun

My parakeet absolutely loved his Cockatiel Playland. He didn't care that he wasn't a cockatiel. He would climb up and down the ladders, shake the chain around, eat spray millet that was twisted through the ladder, and enjoy the food and treats placed in the cups. Once I got this bird gym, I could sit at my computer and type in peace. He was too absorbed with the bird gym to come over and bother me. That definitely made it money well spent.

Cost

Some bird gyms only cost $20. Others cost a couple hundred. The Cockatiel Playland costs $60 in most stores. As far as bird gyms go, that's not too bad. Especially when you think about all the time your bird will spend playing on it.

Easy to Clean

When buying anything for a pet, but especially a bird, you want it to be easy to clean. If the Acrobird Cockatiel Playland should become dirty, it's easy to clean the ladders with sandpaper, unscrew the food/treat cups for cleaning, and wipe down the non-stick bottom with a wet paper towel. When you're thinking about buying a bird gym, you definitely want to think about how you'll clean it. If the bird gym is too difficult to clean, it's going to get messy and ugly very quickly.

Birds need to have their minds stimulated in order to be happy pets. Having a bird gym is an ideal change from just staying in the cage all day. Of course, your bird will still enjoy spending time with you as well. You could even put the bird gym on your desk so that your bird was near you while you worked. However, the bird gym can be a nice place to put your bird down without having to put them back into their cage all the time. For a nice relatively small starter bird gym, the Cockatiel Playland by Acrobird is definitely a good choice.

Even though this bird gym is called the "Cockatiel Playland", it can also be used for parakeets. It would probably be fine for lovebirds as well.
