Many regard the present Tea Party as over the top, name calling and hate mongering. The Tea Party seems to have attracted a fringe which is comfortable acting out with threats, name calling and racial slurs. Some even show off their guns. Unfortunately the actions of these few, fueled by the rhetoric of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and their hatred of President Obama, detract from the mission of the Tea Party. .
The Coffee Party like the Tea Party, also wants to change our political culture. Like the Tea Party they want to determine what is wrong with America, and come up with a plan to fix it. They will focus on the November elections only more civily, and get their messages out using today's technology.
The Coffee Party was started a few months ago on Facebook by Annabel Cook , a documentary film maker who lives in Washington D.C. Fed up with government gridlock, but put off by the flavor of the Tea Party, the Coffee Party pledges to support leaders, Democrat or Republican, who listen to the people and will work towards positive solutions of the country's problems.
Their slogan is "Wake Up and Stand Up." Their mission statement states that the federal government is "not the enemy of the people, but an expression of our collective will. We must participate in the democratic process to fix the changes and challenges we face as Americans."
Ms. Park states that she sees the government as "diseased" but we should not abandon it altogether. Like the Tea Party, the Coffee Party wants more fiscal responsibility from the government and a better congress.
"This is about recognizing that the government represents us. We have to start having a voice and act like bosses". Already there are more than 400 Coffee Party chapters meeting at coffee houses throughout the country. There are thousands of new members signing up every day on line.
The Coffee Party is made up of people acting independently of political parties, of corporations, and of lobbyists. It is diverse ....politically, geographically, in age, ethnicity, and experience. Its members are volunteers.
Like its namesake, the Coffee Party will strengthen as it continues to grow and brew.

I haven't heard of this group before. It sounds more reasonable than the Tea Party...thanks for the information. I will go to the website for more. :)
Interesting. This is the first I've heard of the Coffee Party. :)
Would love to see our government actually listening to the voters. After all, whatever happened to a government OF the people BY the people and FOR the people?
Great concept

Great work!
I saw in our local paper that we're going to have some coffee parties here, too.
Now this is very interesting. - Kent
I like your idea too, much, much better. I just love coffee so you struck a nerve with men. I suppose the only Tea Party reference came from Reveolutionary War and its dumping of tea in the sea to protest Brittish Taxes.
