These are the coldest weather temperature places on Earth listed by continent. For each continent the coldest weather temperature ever recorded is listed. Obviously the coldest temperature ever recorded on Earth is listed and is listed first and then the rest of the continents are listed in order of the coldest weather temperatures ever recorded for each continent.

Antarctica

Vostok Station -128.6 degrees

On July 21, 1983 a temperature of -128.6 degrees was recorded at the Russian research station in Antarctica the Vostok Station. That is the coldest weather temperature ever reliably recorded on Earth to date.

Asia

Verkhoyansk and Oymyakon, Russia -90 degrees

On February 2, 1892 in Verkhoyansk and on February 6, 1933 in Oymyakon both small towns in Russia a temperature reading of -90 degrees was recorded making these small towns the coldest places on Earth that are permanently inhabited and coldest places on the continent of Asia.

North America

North Ice, Greenland -87 degrees

On January 9, 1954 at the British research station called North Ice in the center of Greenland at temperature reading of -87 degrees was recorded for the lowest temperature ever recorded in North America. North Ice Station was only used from 1952-1954 and is now closed.

Europe

Ust' Shchugor, Russia -72.6 degrees

On December 31, 1978 a temperature reading of -72.6 degrees was recorded at Ust' Shchugor in Russia which is the coldest temperature reading ever recorded in Europe. So the coldest temperatures ever recorded on the continents of Asia and Europe were in Russia.

South America

Valle de los Patos Superior, Argentina -38.2 degrees

On July 17, 1972 a temperature reading of -38.2 degrees was recorded at Valle de los Patos Superior in Argentina which is the coldest temperature ever reliably recorded in South America. Valle de los Patos Superior is located in western Argentina in the San Juan Province.

Africa

Ifrane, Morocco -24 degrees

On February 11, 1935 a temperature reading of -24 degrees was recorded in the ski resort town of Ifrane in north-central Morocco in the Middle Atlas Mountains which is the coldest temperature ever recorded on the continent of Africa.

Australia

Charlotte Pass, New South Wales, Australia -9.4 degrees

On June 29, 1994 a temperature reading of -9.4 degrees was recorded in Charlotte Pass, New South Wales in Australia which is the coldest temperature ever recorded on the continent of Australia. Charlotte Pass is located in the Snowy Mountains in southern New South Wales and there is a ski resort located there.
