The College Democrats of America Convention Hits Denver in August

The College Democrats of America Convention (http://collegedems.com/) is a big, nationwide conference that is attended by any college student who is a member of a college democrats chapter. College Democrats is a national organization made up of 50 state federations, each of which has local chapters located on college campuses, scattered throughout each state.

The College Democrats of America convention is held annually; this year it will be held from August 22-25 in Denver, Colorado. The convention is organized by a national executive board for College Democrats of America, made up of the leaders of the organization who are located throughout the country. The current president of the College Democrats of America organization is Lauren Wolfe who is the former president of the Massachusetts state federation. She is also a current law student.

The College Democrats of America organization is dedicated towards promoting the ideals of the Democratic Party and helping increase political participation among college students throughout the country. The organization has also had great success organizing college students to help work on the campaigns of politicians to get them elected into office for the Democratic Party.

The College Democrats of America Convention features guest speakers including the leaders of the Democratic Party. Senator Barack Obama has been a past speaker at the College Democrats of America Convention, targeting young voters to energize the party in what would become the springboard for his candidacy. Other programs at the convention feature lectures on how to improve campaigning skills, how to recruit new members, and how to become the future leaders of the Democratic Party.

Attendance at the College Democrats of America convention ranges from 500-1,000 college students and with the upcoming 2008 presidential election, attendance figures to be an all-time high. College Students from all across the country go to the convention via airplane, bus or car and housing is provided in hotels by the College Democrats of America.

The other great thing that the College Democrats of America organization offers its members is a free entry pass into the Democratic National Convention where the superdelegates and all party leaders gather. The Party nominee who is running for president which will in all likelihood be Senator Obama, will be making a speech in his running for the President of the United States. The Democratic National Convention is a great opportunity for college students to meet the future leaders of the party like themselves as well as the current leaders of the Democratic Party.
