It's that time again-the Renaissance Festival has come to Colorado! So don your swashbuckler uniform, adopt ye Old English tone, fly your colors, and brandish your blade... Good King Henry welcomes you!

Indeed, the Colorado Renaissance Festival awaits your merry company! Turn out for a weekend of riotous comedy, death-defying peril, and mouth-watering delights. Bring your little ones along for rollicking games and rides. Rain or shine, the Colorado Renaissance Festival shall transpire weekends between June 13th and August 2nd 2009.

When the cannon fires at 10am, the castle gate shall open and you'll be transported to 16th Century Tudor England. Stroll the grounds and delight in the classical arts, chance performances, and indulgent delicacies of the Old World. You'll happen upon merchants of every craft, from leatherwork to glassblowing to pottery and woodworking and blacksmithing. You'll be swept into an enchanted realm of Pirates and Wenches, Jugglers and Jesters, Gypsies and Sword-Eaters, Kings and Queens, Knights and Minstrels. So eat, drink, and be merry!

Perhaps you'll spy a royal wedding preception at the majestic Canterbury Chapel, or catch an afternoon joust and root for your favorite hero or cheat. Make way for the parade, when the King and Queen will pay a visit with their entire entourage. Afterwards you might stop at the Pirate's Pub, support your kindly neighborhood bar-wenches, and be seduced by the wanton humor of Iris and Rose- Wild and Thorny. Fill your maw with a juicy Steak on a Stake, leg of turkey, or hot stew in a bread-bowl. Don't forget to pay a visit to the outrageous Puke and Snot, the daring Barely Balanced Juggling Show, the mind-boggling Hypnotist, and the mischievous Ded Bob. Good food, good fun, and good ale!

Children know that you don't really love them unless you let them ride the ships, play with sharp-pointed objects, catapult frogs, and explore the petting zoo. Your fair maiden will never forgive you should you neglect to purchase her a lovely shrubbery to match her lovely bodice... and if you really aim to impress, you'll show off your archery skills or win her favor at darts. You'll be singing sonnets before you know it!

Parking is free. Admission is $17.95 per adult and $8.00 per child. Children under 5 years of age shall be admitted for free! Discounted group rates are available, so visit the website for details: http://www.coloradorenaissance.com/

Purchase tickets in advance at any King Soopers or Wendy's location and receive a buy-one, get-one-free discount!

I went to this when I was a kid (we lived in CO for a while). Now I just go to the one where I live (Florence, Alabama); it's really small, but it's free. :) Great article!
