This trip to the playoffs by the Rockies would become their first in over ten years. They came into the season to be the "punching bag" of the national league. I am sure that their plan at the start of spring training was to give their opponents a run for their money, and they sure did just that. Especially in a tiebreaker against the San Diego Padres, this game could be possibly one of the greatest game baseball fans have seen in a long time.
Now the Rockies find themselves a step closer towards the World Series, but first they must face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Championships, series starting on Thursday (Oct 11, 2007); this appearance in the NLC is a first for the franchise. No one predicted that Colorado would be in this situation and come next season I am betting that the National League will have more respect for them.
When the playoffs come into a conclusion it is possible that the Colorado Rockies will be World Champions; and this is coming from a die hard New York Yankees fan. I believe that the Rockies are hungrier then the other teams in the playoffs. They play with so much passion and heart, their never quit attitude it's what drives them to keep fighting and coming from behind when other teams would just put their heads down and give up. A lot of people are actually glad that they are in the playoffs; it is not often that true baseball fan gets to see a team with such fire.
Take the Yankees and the Red Sox for example; they play for bragging rights and too show the world that is they are the best, as for the Rockies they play for their city and for the love of baseball. Now if you have not got the chance to see the playoffs I suggest that you do and watch the Rockies very closely because if they do not win the World Series they will be a dangerous team next season.
The Rockies are actually an enjoyable team to watch, this is why they are becoming the second choice to win the championship this year by baseball fans. Good Luck Colorado!
