The Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner is Finally Out on DVD
The Extended and Uncensored Version
Although some fan reviews of the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner have been negative, most connoisseurs of the roast format won't be put off when they see Shatner seated in a replica of the Starship Enterprise's Captain's chair as the cast line up to poke fun at him. The roasters included: Jason Alexander---the Roastmaster---Sandra Bullock, Andy Dick, Farrah Fawcett, Greg Giraldo, Clint Howard, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Lampanelli, Artie Lange, Nichelle Nichols, Leonard Nimoy, Patton Oswalt, Kevin Pollak, Brian Posehn, Jeffrey Ross, Sarah Silverman, Ben Stiller, George Takei, Betty White and Fred William.
Be prepared to watch comedians try to gross each other out as they roast Shatner and he dishes back at them. Be prepared to see William Shatner come off looking like a really nice guy as he fends off the brutal jokes and obscene insults. At the end, he even roasts himself. If you can't take potty humor you might want to pass this uncensored DVD version by. But if you enjoy great flashbacks to things like Shatner doing his infamous 'Rocket Man' performance and being shocked at the raunchiness of Betty White, you'll love the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner---or as he jokes, William Tiberius Shatner's roast. (In case your Star Trek trivia retrieval is getting rusty, 'Tiberius' was Captain James Kirk's middle name, not Shatner's.)
From his days as Captain T. Kirk on the Starship Enterprise to his present-day portrayal of Denny Crane from Boston Legal, seventy-five year old William Shatner draws his fan base from across generational lines from teenagers to octogenarians. And whether his fans will love this newest DVD, or not, it's fair to say that all of them are enjoying the 'brave new worlds' that Bill has been taking his career to. He is acting, song writing and recording at an age where many people perceive a senior citizen as having nothing better to do all day than decide between having cat or dog food for dinner. The Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner is a great example of the philosophy he wrote and sang about in his album, Has Been: "Live life like you're gonna die because you're gonna." So put the kids to bed before you slip The Roast into the DVD player. This is a no holds barred show. ©

Post a CommentWe'll probably see it. We survived watching The Associates last night and found some parts truly funny, I have to say (and yes, the kids and even the pets were all asleep, blinds drawn, etc)
:)
Roasts are such fun, but I haven't seen this one yet. Will have to check it out.
I loved the roast when I saw it censored on Comedy Central, so this should be a blast!
I hadn't heard of this but it sure sounds like one worth checking out.
I didn't think to search for the Roasts on Netflix...thanks :-)
I really don't like Shatner, so this would be right up my alley, what with him being roasted and all.
Ohhh, see, I missed it! Now I'll have to go buy this! Thanks
A friend who says he saw the pay-per-view event told me it reminded him of the hilarious Dean Martin roasts. I definitely want this one!
This one is worth the money.
I didn't know about this 'til now- thanks!
