The Common Double Standard of Society

The "Roles" of Men and Women

Molly Reed
Women have to work 2x as hard to get 1/2 as far as men.

We're still being paid less than men; even after all these years of reform.

A girl sleeps with 5 guys and she's a whore, skank, slut, hoe, hooker, or prostitue. A guy sleeps with 10 girls and he's a player, beast, hoss, badass, or a pimp.

If a guy who has slept with 15 people wants to call a girl a whore because she's also slept with 15 people, I'm going to call him out on it. I'm tired of the double standard.

Personally, I don't understand why we have to involve ourselves with other people's sex lives and call them whores when we don't like what we hear about them. I'll admit that I'm guilty of doing this, but I feel badly about it. We don't know why other people are having sex; who are we to judge the way they live?

And the numbers. "How many people have they slept with?" I'm so tired of this question. Because a)unless you're a potential sexual partner, it's none of your business how many people someone has slept with. And b) what if someone was raped? Do they count their rapist as one of their sexual partners? What if someone was so inebriated that they were blacking out and had sex with someone? Do they count those partners who took advantage of them?

The issue of sexuality is personal and can be extremely complicated. It's not fair for us to judge one another.

Parents are automatically more strict with daughters than their sons. Believe me, I'm an example. My brothers got away with everything but because I'm a female and have more at stake, I have a stricter set of rules.

Parents don't want their daughters to be taken advantage of in life, or walked all over, and that's usually what happens.

We've gone through decades of oppression and over time have made huge strides in changing the way society views and treats women. I'm not a feminist and I don't believe women need to be compensated for past suffering. I'm completely against affirmative action, but I'd like to feel like I'm getting the same oppurtunities as men are. I can make my own money and take care of myself but knowing my male colleagues were making more money than me for doing less work, would flat-out piss me off.

-The U.S. government and individual state governments provide many financial aid programs specifically for single

mothers but NONE just for single fathers. I know of several women, who really aren't even single by the way, who

work the system so well that they don't even work, have everything paid for, and have plenty of money to spend but

If your a white single father who is going through financial hardship, too bad, your on your own!!

-Dateline did a story where they had a man and a women stranded on the road next to what looked like a broke down

car. The both motion the on coming traffic for help, the women had 8 men stop over a 3 hour period while the only

person to stop for the man was a police officer who didnt even try to help but gave him a hard time instead.

doesn't have the courtesy to even offer to buy one in return and sometimes doesnt even say thanks. Go to any bar and watch how

    women are treated like queens.

-Men almost never get a "warning" when they get pulled over but its very common for women to get off with just a

warning, especially when they start crying, where if it had been a man he would have definitely gotten slapped with

a ticket which would most likely result in him having to go to traffic court, have points taken off his license,

and would have to pay more for his car insurance over it.

-Women have and can hook up with male students and its treated completely opposite then if it where a male teacher

with a female minor student. When that pretty female teacher hooked up with her 16 year old student, nobody called

her a pedophile and when it went to court, she got PROBATION and unlike the men who did the same she did NOT have

to register as a sexual offender and nobody se

Your correct in that there are many double standards between men and women. However, you failed to mention the ones

that favor women over men. For instance:

-Women want equal rights but you never hear them say that when it comes to seeing signs that say "Women and

children first" or "ladies first". When there's an evacuation, often times they require the women and children to

go first like they did on the Titanic. Most of the people rescued were women. not men,

-A good looking female gets treated like a queen. If you want to see how much better they have it then men even

really good looking men, read a book called Bare about a beautiful women who writes about her life as a beautiful

model and stripper and how she used and manipulated men to get whatever she wanted. She often played with their

emotions. Its pretty sick but I see it happen almost everyday.

-Women rarely have to buy drinks as men will flock over them and by them d
