The 'Community' 12 Days of Greendale

Robert Dougherty

The holidays are a somewhat mixed time for us fans of "Community" as the show just aired its latest massive Christmas parody - and may not have any more parodies for months on end. In the first of perhaps many weeks without the Greendale community, it is appropriate to look back on what we're already missing during the hiatus - and what the rest of America still hasn't discovered yet.

The 12 days of Greendale - which may have to stretch through 120 days depending on NBC's mercy - include such low-rated but cult classic bit as:

12 Brittas Britta'ing: This has to take up the highest number since Britta is just the worst.

11 Psycho Pierces: Pierce did most of his psycho behavior in the first half of 2011, but it was just enough to make Chevy Chase, of all people, into one of the TV villains of the year.

10 Shirley Sermons: If it's Christmas - and not the holidays, mind you - Christmas celebrations and Jesus songs are a given from Shirley.

9 Crazy Changs: There are probably 90 mentally ill Chang's that are Chang'ed inside his crazy brain, but the song only goes up to 12 numbers, so there's no need to get Chang-ry over nitpicking.

8 A's for Annie: NBC needs to bring "Community" back soon, if only so Annie's test and diorama withdrawal doesn't take Greendale and all of Colorado down with her.

7 Terrible Timelines: Someone needs to check the NBC execs for evil fake paper goatees, since if they're really from the "Remedial Chaos Theory" darkest timeline, it might explain a few things.

6 Joking Jeffs: Even with "Community" on the brink, Jeff Winger can still be counted to make only enough effort for snarky one-liners and texting - which is probably funnier to put up with from our living rooms.

5 Dean Dongs!: And any other Dean related pun that Dean Pelton hasn't made yet in his entrances. But just because the hiatus put a stop to that and his costume changes, it still doesn't make a strong case for the hiatus….hopefully.

4 Seasons Long: The best possible fate of the show for "Community" fans everywhere. Besides, after all the controversial and divisive series finales of the last few years, they deserve the Greendale parody treatment to go along with the scorn of loyal fans. Will the study group go to heaven without answering any questions, or will they really live in a snow globe, or will it all turn out to be Abed's dream?

3 Paintball Parodies: It's technically two if last year's two part finale counts as one episode. However, "Community" can make its paintball parody saga an official trilogy - or satirize their inability to top themselves - if it could just get through Season 3.

2 Christmas Classics: For the rest of the holidays, the most recent musical takedown of "Glee" can now be shown as a double feature with last year's musical takedown of Christmas stop motion.

And of course, there's only 1….Troy and Abed In The Morning!
