When you're choosing your first electric guitar, it is best to get the copy of an original guitar, such as a plywood. The sound between a Solid Wood and Plywood are very similar, but the Plywood is much cheaper. It is best to go for lesser known brands such as Orion, Legend or Onxy. Once the basics become second nature to you, it is time for you to upgrade your guitar.
Hand me down guitars or second hand guitars is another alternative to going out and buying an expensive electric guitar right off the bat. Check out your local paper, you'll find all kinds of great deals on guitars there. When you're looking at a guitar or buying one, you must remember to plug in the guitar and play it to see how it feels. Put the strap around your neck and get a feel for it. You're better off getting ever piece of information about the guitar before buying it.
Another thing to remember when purchasing an electric guitar is, you're going to need an amplifier. Many stores and newspapers offer great deals on an electric guitar and amplifier package. Another important tip to remember when buying an electric guitar is to plug it into an amplifier that is similar to the one that you have or the one that you are buying, playing the guitar in the store on one of their expensive amplifiers will not help you when you go home and play it on your own amplifier.
When you're playing classic acoustic music the guitar that best suits you is either a Steel String acoustic guitar or a Classic acoustic guitar. The Spanish classic acoustic guitar is light and have nylon strings which are really nice on the fingers. The Spanish classic comes in various sizes, they even have sizes for children. The maintenance on a Spanish acoustic is a lot lower than a Steel string acoustic and it is much cheaper as well.
Steel string acoustic guitars are more expensive than Spanish classics, but like mentioned earlier you don't have to go for the well known expensive brands when you're just starting. The most important thing to remember is that you must feel comfortable playing the guitar that you get. Another thing to remember is to make sure that your fingers fit around the guitar's neck. You must test the guitar before you buy it just like the electric guitar.
When choosing a guitar the main thing that must be taken under consideration is the type of music that you're going to be playing, how good are you, how serious are you about playing the guitar and what your budget is. Just remember to choose the guitar that best suits you because you'll play it the best and it'll look the best on you.
