MMORPGs have many different ways of defining your characters. World of Warcraft has the Talent System. Guild Wars has an Attribute System. Everquest 2 has the Achievement system.

Starting at level ten, your character will gain a new xp bar, in addition to the normal bar, and the crafting bar. Every time this bar fills, you will gain an Achievement Point. To gain Achievement experience, you have to achieve special events, like finishing quests, killing special named monsters and finding dangerous locations.

The Achievement trees are split up into two different sections. One section is specific for the class, and one for the subclass. For the Cleric classes, this means that there is one for the Templar, one for the Inquisitor, and one common to both of them. This article focuses on the Cleric class tree.

The first ability in each of the five trees in the Class talent tree increases the stat that the tree is based on.

The Strength tree is called the Bishop tree. After the first ability, you will get a one handed hammer attack the will de-buff the enemy, an ability that increases melee damage and gives your attacks a chance to interrupt spells, an ability that increases the Bishops spell casting ability, and finally, an ability that roots the caster, but makes them immune to interrupts and silencing spells. This tree is good for Clerics who wish to avoid being interrupted while healing.

The Agility tree is called the Protector tree. After the first ability, you will get a shield bash that mesmerizes the enemy, an ability that increases the Cleric's melee damage, an ability that will help to protect your allies, and finally, a spell that will protect allies from area effect spells. These abilities make the Protector good at both wading in to the fight to help his allies, and protecting them from harm.

The Stamina tree is called the Deacon tree. After the first Stamina increasing ability, you will get a two handed hammer knockdown attack, an ability that increases your melee critical hit chance, an ability that increase your healing critical hit chance, and finally, an ability that will protect you from most damage for a short time. This is a good, all around melee tree, useful for versatile Clerics.

The Wisdom tree is called the Exorcist tree. After the first ability, you will get a powerful spell against undead, a weapon buff that increases damage against undead, an ability that decreases the hate the Exorcist gains from enemies, and a group buff that prevents most damage from undead creatures. This tree is good for Clerics who wish to be very effective against undead creatures.

The Arbiter tree is the Intelligence tree for Clerics. After the arbitrary Intelligence increase, you will get a smite spell, which can only be done while a two handed staff is equipped, an ability that increases your spell critical chance, an ability that increases you casting speed, and a short buff that greatly increases your groups casting time and recovery time. This is good for Clerics who like to stay in the back, and focus on casting.

The Cleric classes are probably the best healers in the game. But in addition to that, they have a lot of other abilities, like some minor melee ability, and some damage spells. So, with the help of the Achievement system, you can specialize in a number of different ways. So choose wisely, and good hunting.
