Pittsburgh Steelers fans usually won't pass up a chance to watch their favorite team in action. Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp is a great way to watch the Steelers and it's absolutely free of charge (Five Fun Free Things to Do in Pittsburgh). Fans can get closer to the players than they would at the game and can try to get autographs from the Steelers players as well. Here are some tips for going to Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp.

Where: Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp is held at St. Vincent's College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. St. Vincent's College is about an hour from Pittsburgh, located off of Route 30.

When: Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp typically starts at the end of the July (complete schedule can be found on http://www.steelers.com/). Times do vary by day, and practice isn't opened to the public everyday, so make sure to check the schedule before driving to Latrobe.

What Can You Expect: Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp is a laidback place. Fans can enjoy watching players run through drills while they sit or stand on the grassy area around the St. Vincent's practice field. The kids can run around and enjoy the Steelers Experience, which consists of interactive games for kids (and adults) to play. Fans can bring a picnic lunch, snacks, or drinks, but note that no alcohol is permitted at St. Vincent's. Dogs and other pets are also not permitted at Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp.

There are no tickets and Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp is free to the public. Fans are welcome to take pictures, but are not permitted to videotape the practices (after all, we don't want to give the competition an unfair advantage!). Fans can approach the players for autographs after practice, but there's usually a lot of competition, so be prepared for a crowd if you're looking for an autograph.

After Practice: If you're looking to make a day of it, there are a few great places to eat near Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp. Denunzio's Italian Restaurant (http://www.denunziosrestaurant.com/), with locations in Latrobe and nearby Jeannette, has wonderful Italian food. The portions at Denunzio's are fairly large and the selection is great (Denunzio's chicken parmesan is fantastic!).

The Park Classic Diner also has great food and wonderful milkshakes. The Park Classic Diner is located on Route 30 in Jeannette and is on your way home if you're going back to Pittsburgh on the Turnpike.

Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp makes for a great day for any Steelers fan, and is especially great for families. If you do decide to make the trip to training camp, note that it does get crowded, so you might want to get to St. Vincent's early if you're looking for a prime spot.
