The Confirmation Hearing

The time spent watching the confirmation hearing of Ms. Sotomayor has been a tedious and painful experience. The only conclusion I can derive assuredly is that 'all Senators are posers'. All broadcasted hearings are just another opportunity for Senatorial face time. The judicial committee is packed with former lawyers and they try to outdo each other with cunning, convoluted questioning. New Senator Al Franken did attempt to interject a tad of humor. He'll be a refreshing addition to this flock of pompous buffoons until they grind him down.

I feel for Ms. Sotomajor as she undergoes this public whipping but I guess that's the going price for high court ambitions.

In translation, here's what's really being asked of the nominee: Ms. Sotomajor:
Are you going to take away our guns?
Are you going to side with the baby killers?
Is there any chance you will let emotion, sympathy, empathy or any other life affirming human quality enter in to your legal considerations?

Here's questions I would ask of her. Ms. Sotomajor:
Do you have a boyfriend?
Why are you so ambitious?
Will you be influenced by power, pride, money or public attention?

She has shown herself to be the better of those who will vote her onto the high court.
