The Connecticut Veterans Memorial - West Hartford / Wall of Peace
Located at the northeast edge of the center of town in West Hartford, Connecticut, at the busy corner of Farmington Avenue and South Main Street is the Connecticut Veterans Memorial - West Hartford. Known locally as the 'Wall of Peace', this memorial is a tribute to all members of the United States Armed Services who have served the country, in all conflicts.
The Connecticut Veterans Memorial - West Hartford was dedicated in May 2006. The memorial is circular in design, with large blocks of polished black granite broken into sections that designate different armed conflicts. Engraved into each section of the Wall of Peace are the names of veterans from West Hartford, Connecticut who lost their lives during armed conflicts.
The fashionable West Hartford Center shopping area where The Connecticut Veterans Memorial - West Hartford is situated is one of the most popular shopping areas in the Hartford, Connecticut region. An array of boutiques, specialty shops, offices and restaurants line the streets surrounding the memorial and the town center is a favorite spot for local residents to stroll and window - shop.
Having a memorial to local veterans who gave their lives while defending our country located in the center of town, has proven to be a great idea.
