The "COPS" 800th episode aired via its Season 23 premiere on FOX Saturday night, featuring Boynton Beach, Florida Police in two of the three segments. It's a great milestone for the reality show. The 800th episode of "COPS" featured a large boa constrictor and a suspect allegedly hiding "dangerous drugs" in his sandals. Reality television's iconic series is still going strong.

The "COPS" 800th Episode Featured Boynton Beach, Florida Police in the Show's Season 23 Premiere

In the first vignette in Boynton Beach, Florida, it's dark outside. An officer stops a suspicious vehicle. The driver bolts and the foot pursuit is on in the darkness, but it's not long before the suspect is found. After being taken away, some marijuana is found in the passenger's seat, purportedly at least 20 grams, including some 15 individually-packaged portions, which means a felony charge for distribution. The next segment on the "COPS" 800th episode and Season 23 Premiere featured an officer responding to a complaint by a resident about what he deemed a 12 foot python that he first saw in the street as he drove home. But officers ascertained it was a Boa constrictor and pulled it out of the shrubbery and onto the sidewalk. The snake finally got put in a bag after some resistance in Boynton Beach, Florida, and an animal control officer took it into custody.

Harris County Deputies Net a Potential Drug Bust on the "COPS" 800th Episode, Season 23 Premiere

Finally, a male driver runs a stop sign and is stopped by a Harris County deputy. The driver has no license and makes the excuse for not being able to get a license since he has a warrant for grand theft out of Florida, which he wasn't extradited for initially. The other passenger doesn't have any identification, and when searched, pills are found when he takes off his sandals. Soon, the driver fesses up to giving a false identification for actually having warrants, and more pills are found. Both men are charged with "possession of dangerous drugs" on the Season 23 Premiere.

"COPS" with its Bad Boys theme song still packs a punch, but the older episodes had more edge. Additionally, just one area of the country was focused on for each classic episode. This made the programs more engaging, especially since viewers could get more acquainted via TV with the dark side of cities like Cleveland, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, etc. Nonetheless, the "COPS" 800th episode shows the program's staying power.
