The Cork Tree

Deborah Coss
In the middle of Old Towne Camarillo,
Stands an old cork tree.
Not many folks that pass by,
Even know that it is there!
She's a grand old tree,
And I know her and she knows me!
It's a humble tree,
That gives her shade to you and me.
And I hear that they are quite rare,
But it's not so much for that, that I care.
It's just that, I found her when I was on the run-
And my life was coming undone;
And I stood under arms to catch my breath,
And I felt Mother Earth, while I stood there.
I know where there is a very old cork tree,
And I know her and she knows me.
