To say that owners, Dave and Susan Johnson go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible is an understatement at best. The proud owners purchased the cottages in February of 2005 and have worked diligently to bring the best amenities to their guests.
Some of those amenities include a spacious kitchenette stocked to meet your cooking needs, or for outdoor cooking, each cottage has its own grill and picnic table.
You will find bookshelves stocked with books for a quiet read near the lake, poolside or on your deck. Each cottage has its own DVD player and movies are located in the office. Let's face it, sometimes the weather doesn't agree, and a rainy day movie can be just the ticket.
For those days in the sun there are two boat docks with plenty of slips to keep your boat. If you don't have a boat, pull up a chair and fish from the dock. The water is so clear you can see the fish swim by! Or act like a fish yourself and jump in for a swim.
If lake water isn't for you, the pool is clean and inviting. On either side of the pool you will find shady playgrounds available for the little ones.
I spotted a nice selection of wildlife, though I have to admit, birds are my favorite. As I watched the fish swim under the dock I was surprised by a Kingfisher that landed next to me. Unfortunately the whir of my camera coming to life frightened him away.
High speed internet is only a click away. There are no phones in the cottages. For me that fact is the most wonderful amenity of all. There is a phone available to guests in the office. So we gained the best of both worlds. Laundry facilities or linen service is also available.
Our cottage was clean, spacious, comfortable, and affordably priced. Though we visited in "off season" a visit to their website at www.fairhavencove.com will show that these lovely duplex cottages are moderately priced year round.
Personal touches created by Susan herself are apparent throughout the cottage; with handcrafted curtains and even colorful bed linens.
Dave proudly gave us a tour of the grounds when we arrived. We were scouting the area for a place to stay for a couple of weeks, working in the area. That was on Saturday. We rented the cottage to begin our stay the following Monday. By the time we arrived back home, we put in the call that we would like to return the next morning. The lovely grounds and peaceful atmosphere called to us, "Come back".
I cannot say enough about the tranquility of Fair Haven Cove. We hope to return many times in the future. I expect to get to know Dave and Susan Johnson very well in the years to come.
