However, before we declare war on those who would obstruct or deny us our fundamental values it is both reasonable and prudent to recognize who the enemy is. I have talked to a very large number of people, both in and out of government, and I find that there are no exceptions to the belief that all of our problems are due to either the 'other' political party, some personality (or personalities), or some vague reference to "government". The fact is that our national problems are not due to "government", or the presiding party, or personalities. It is primarily due to a simple decision by the Supreme Court: SANTA CLARA COUNTY v. SOUTHERN PAC. R. CO., 118 U.S. 394 (1886). This landmark decision was made without virtue if any argument, to endow corporations with all the rights and protections of a citizen. This would not be a problem if not for the reality that flesh and blood 'citizens' answer to ethical and moral accountability. Non-flesh and blood corporations, on the other hand, answer to one moral/ethical principal and that is simply 'profit'.
Corporations have worked diligently, with their enormous lobbying and special interest funds to dominate our government and establish a "Corporate Fiefdom" in America and throughout the world. Their vision is to establish two fundamental classes: The 'Corporate Aristocracy' which would harvest the bulk of wealth created by exploiting all planetary natural resources at minimal cost. The 'Corporate Vassals' will consist of all the world's workers who exist for no other purpose than to increase and perpetuate the wealth of the elite classes!
The fundamental corporate objectives are basically simple: maximize profit; minimize loss; shift costs to government taxpayers and consumers; and remove any obstacle to achievement of these goals. Their ultimate objective must inevitably be to seek and achieve absolute power to control every government and people. America is both their greatest market and their most difficult testing ground for policies and strategies to control a free market and free people.
The on-going process of developing these techniques began in the mid 19th century with the great emigration and industrial revolution in America. The process has continued to adapt as population and consumer markets increased. The challenge for business, during the fastest economic growth in United States history, was to develop methods of managing unprecedented numbers of workers to produce goods and services for unprecedented consumer markets! During the 20th century these techniques have been adapting to unprecedented availability of education, transportation and communication which was the byproduct of international commerce and alliances to create an international balance of power which would foster and protect business and market expansion. War has been a tried and true method of building markets and keeping workers and populations from expanding to unmanageable levels. Just as periodic culling of wildlife populations prevent them from exceeding the ability of the environment to support their population while enhancing the traits of the remaining population, a conflict of some type for each generation stimulates markets, reduces male populations, and ensures the survivors will be more suitable for society. Thus, business has evolved into contemporary monolithic global corporate entities which have become "too big to fail"!
In 1776 the United States of America embarked upon a great social experiment in government which was designed to avoid all the pitfalls and drawbacks of previous governments. The US Constitution represents a brilliant system of checks and balances embodied in Legislative, Administrative, and Judicial branches of government. The Bill of Rights mandates unprecedented civil liberties for Americans. However, the primary and indispensable element of government of, by and for the PEOPLE is informed decision-making. Not only is it indispensable that the constituency be motivated to participate and seek to be well-informed, but the information at their disposal must be factual, objective and above all - trustworthy!
The larger and better educated the population became the more unwieldy this democratic republic became. Development of newer communication technology with radio, television, and ultimately the Internet created even greater opportunities for fraud, manipulation, and misuse of these technologies which promised so much in the betterment of mankind! Thus government of this 'free' state has been compelled to develop methods of managing, and some might say 'manipulating', the American people. The current techniques for accomplishing control have emerged as a 'menu' of several different, but simultaneous, approaches: Technology, Education, Medication, and Mind Control.
Command and Control (the magic is in the medium)
If the incumbent leadership of an organization, whether it be business or government, wishes to ensure their continuity they must engage in some fundamental activities which will ensure there is no substantial development of organized opposition. This may be accomplished by following certain well-established criteria. "Command and Control" is by no means a 'new' concept - the US government has been engaged in an ongoing process of integrating newly developed approaches and techniques, under the auspices of the Department of Defense. More recently a new organization has emerged which is dedicated to enhancing both the state of the art and the state of the practice of command and control and improving the DoD's understanding of the national security implications of the Information Age. This organization is the Command and Control Research Program (CCRP) which is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Secretary of Defense.
There have been and continue to be close ties between DoD, government and corporate interests in research and development of methods of modification and control of public perception to preserve and protect the interests of 'authority' in the USA. A classic example of this is Donald H. Rumsfeld, who served as Secretary of Defense under President Gerald Ford from 1975 to 1977, and President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2006. He was the only person to have held the position for two non-consecutive terms, and the second longest serving in American history. His assistant Secretary of Defense from 2001 to 2005 was Paul Wolfowitz, author of the "Wolfowitz Doctrine" which served as much of the imperialist policies of the George W. Bush administration and the unprovoked unilateral invasion of Iraq. Wolfowitz's fundamental principle was to suppress potential threats by preventing other nations from achieving a more competitive stature with the USA. To substantiate the close ties between government and business "command and control" policies, Wolfowitz served as President of the World Bank Group for six years and is now a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, working on issues of international economic development, including but not limited to public-private partnerships. He's also chairman of the US-Taiwan Business Council.
Media History
Between November 9 and 11, 1925 "Proceedings of the Fourth National Radio Conference and Recommendations for Regulation of Radio" were published. The overriding concern was that radio might be employed to the advantage or disadvantage of 'national security'. It was decided that it would be best if this new medium would self-regulate rather than be government regulated. The Federal Radio Commission was formed in 1926, to provide organization and direction for the new technology and was soon replaced by the Federal Communications Commission in 1934. With the development of the new television technology some far-sighted leaders recognized the need for an organization which would ensure the government would continue to allow the medium to be self-regulating. As a result an organization called the Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) was formed. They came up with a code of ethics which follows, and remains in effect today.
The responsibility of radio and television journalists is to gather and report information of importance and interest to the public accurately, honestly, and impartially.
The members of the Radio-Television News Directors Association accept these standards and will:
• Strive to present the source or nature of broadcast news material in a way that is balanced, accurate, and fair.
• They will evaluate information solely on its merits as news, rejecting sensationalism or misleading emphasis in any form.
• They will guard against using audio or video material in any way that deceives the audience.
• They will not mislead the public by presenting as spontaneous news any material which is staged or rehearsed.
• They will identify people by race, creed, nationality or prior status only when it is relevant.
• They will clearly label opinion and commentary.
• They will promptly acknowledge and correct errors.
• Strive to conduct themselves in a manner that protects them from conflicts of interest, real or perceived. They will decline gifts or favors which would influence or appear to influence their judgment.
• Respect the dignity, privacy and well-being of people with whom they deal.
• Recognize the need to protect confidential sources. They will promise confidentiality only with the intention of keeping that promise.
• Respect everyone's right to a fair trial.
• Broadcast the private transmissions of other broadcasters only with permission.
• Actively encourage observance of this Code by all journalists, whether members of the Radio-Television News Directors Association or not
The National Association of Broadcasters was formed in 1922 and came up with the "Code of Practices for Television Broadcasters" which was established December 6, 1951. After substantial pressure from broadcasters, the code was suspended in the early 1980's. During the 80's a new medium emerged which was to revolutionize economics and public access to availability of information - the World Wide Web. Since it's appearance as a means of communication it has been repeatedly subjected to government efforts to regulate and tax access to this technology. Thus far those efforts have been defeated, but it's only a matter of time before the government and corporate alliance is successful in creating legislation which will allow the President or government to seize control of the medium for "national security" reasons. Legislation has already been proposed which will allow this to be accomplished under legal auspices.
No, the new technology is not employing psychological techniques such as 'subliminal perception' to manipulate Americans (although research was conducted to explore this possibility). CCRP has determined the best method of maintaining order and developing a consumer market through contemporary technology is to simply prevent the natural human tendency to form groups with similar traits or interests or organizing to conduct public protest by:
• Keeping the public preoccupied with acquisition of goods and services which will soon need to be replaced, or will be out of fashion, with constant and repeated suggestion - advertising (tired or exhausted workers do not represent a credible threat).
• Ensure there will be an abundance and wide variety of pleasure producing images and products (people who are comfortable and enjoying themselves are not protesting or organizing).
• Avoid consistency and accuracy of information (confused people don't organize).
• Provide the public with plenty of pharmaceuticals and intoxicants which will address every perceived need or deficiency (drugged or intoxicated people do not present a significant threat).
• Maintain the status quo through control of education, indoctrinating and training youth to behave in the desired fashion.
Thus, regardless of what person or group may occupy positions of leadership, they will serve at the discretion of the corporations. Once their total control is firmly established over the most powerful nation in the world, they will only need to use their imperial power to subjugate every other nation. Much of their goals have already been established, and the economic crisis the world is in now has created a global vulnerability to expanding their dominion. The United States, with approximately 5% of the world's population and consuming 25% of it's resources, has become little more than a cash cow for the corporate world - with no allegiance to any nation or philosophy but 'profit' and the power to produce more! Call me a nut, paranoid, radical, or extremist, but please don't call me ignorant of who my real adversaries are!
