The CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conferance) A.K.A. Freaking Idiots..

State of the Union: CPAC Leads Conservatives to even greater bounds of despotism.

Kristoffer Martin

I'm astounded by the outright and blatant idiocy exhibited at the CPAC just recently. Just astounded. Reading through several articles and watching the events unfold on C-Span I found myself wondering, "what the fuck?"

An interesting example is of Janice Shaw Cruise's speech on the moral decay of the US. I quote: "The bottom line is that families are the glue that holds together our communities, our country and our world. And that is weakening, the moral foundation necessary for a civilized and well functioning society is crumbling all around us. When the family becomes nothing more than a group of people living together there is no moral authority in terms of standards of behavior, children are left to drip aimlessly in an anything goes kind of culture. Without authentic moral absolutes America as we know it is at risk. Moral boundaries not moral relativism are the fiber of the American Nation. When truth and goodness are not vigilantly upheld distortions lies and myths flood in to take over, like the flood waters flooded New Orleans of hurricane Katrina. History offers some very harsh examples specifically Hitler's youth movement and Mao's' red guards they show that terror can be unleashed when solid moral principles are no longer the guiding principles of the nation." What is this saying, really? Well first off, families are not the glue that holds this country or its communities together. If it were we wouldn't have a 60% divorce rate for the last three decades. Morals that are weakening, let's be real here. Morals change with each generation, these are not things that are set in stone. As we evolve in our mentality and social understanding moral dilemmas will also change. What is being seen as moral decay, in this case as I and anyone else could pull from this speech and the one's prior to it, the gay rights movement and liberal movement for marriage equality, is being blamed for and equated to the basis for the creation of a Neo-Nazi generation. And are we seriously going to compare the New Orleans' flood to the Biblical one? Whose "truth and goodness" are we talking about here?

Ryan Sorba the Young Americans for Freedom speaker was booed off stage by the CPAC audience for condemning the CPAC for allowing GOPride for attending. What an odd and interesting contradiction that is. I wonder if that is because the CPAC wanted the GOPride followers and supporters to hear all the bigotry being thrown up on stage? Funny how the Young American's for Freedom speaker is calling for condemnation for the allowing of Gays to attend an open conference.

In conjunction to the CPAC the Alliance Defense Fund argued that the removal of Don't Ask Don't Tell and the removal of Christian religion hegemony in the US military would create a state religion.

"'If chaplains with beliefs that contradict the proposed policy are kept from roles that are likely to generate conflict - like preaching or counseling - then they, the faith groups they represent, and the soldiers whose religious beliefs they serve will all be marginalized..."The military would effectively establish preferred religions or religious beliefs," the letter said. "That is a constitutional offense that carries a very pragmatic consequence: just what will happen to recruiting efforts if Christians become second-class soldiers, sailors, airmen, or Marines." "Military chaplains who have volunteered to defend the liberties protected in our Constitution shouldn't be denied those very same liberties," said Theriot. "Forcing chaplains to deny the teachings of their faith in order to serve in the armed forces is a grave threat to the First Amendment and to the spiritual health of Marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen who depend on them.'" Can we please get serious here. The repeal of DADT will not create a "preferred religion" rather it will ensure the rights of all enlisted persons.

But to roll this into an all out loss, Jason Mattera of that same Young Americans for Freedom disses feminists, gays, and says President Obama does Coke. A bad joke later taken up by Glen F(B)eck the conference's key note speaker no less. How sad is that? I wonder if these people even realize just how stupid they sound...
