The Crackle in the Sky

Julie Wimmer
To most of us, July fourth means
waiting for the crackle in the sky.
But that's not the only thing, it seems,
because it is more than just one day in July.

This special day is usually fun, sunny and hot,
and some of us travel about town.
Others will take time finding a great picnic spot,
and most of us just happily roam around.

We swim, we eat, we play with our family and friends;
we cool off, we laugh, we talk.
Night time brings some relief and new trends
as we wait for the special evening to start.

But this holiday is not just about the night,
or the fantastic crackle in the sky above.
It's a holiday about our country, our might,
as well as spending time with those we love.

So enjoy this holiday with your family and friends
while waiting for the crackle in the sky.
Start some traditions, some of those new trends
and always remember this favorite day in July.
