The Craze of American Idol

The number one watched reality show actually got it's start in Brittain,it was named "Pop Idol " and made it's way to our televisions in 2002.1,000's of hopeful singers lined up for hours at major cities around the United States for their chance to become an American Idol.One of their biggest obstacles to face would be the celebrity judges.

Simon Cowell,producer of Celebrity Duets,Americas Got Talent and composer of Battle of the Stars.Probably the most well known judge for direct,straight forward critisim although sometimes his words are hard to swallow he backs them by honesty,earning him the nicknames Judge Dread and Mr.Nasty.

Paula Abdul most well known for her choreography in music videos for such artists as Janet Jackson,Debbie Gibson,George Michael as well as her own.As a recording artist it took over 2 years for her first album to reach the top of the charts but once it did she scored four #1 singles.Paula is known for being the nuturer and most easy going judge.

Randy Jackson,not related to Michael,noted for being a musician and producer played electric bass guitar for Journey from 1983 to 1986 and toured with well known artists such as Mariah Carey,Nsync and Celine Dion.He worked as an executive for Columbia Records and MCA Records.He has earned the nicknames " The Dawg" and " The Emperor",his judging tactics can range anywhere from being apologetically truthful to nicely complimenting.

The beginning Season 1:Giving us such talents as Kelly Clarkson,Justin Guarini and Tamyra Gray our phone lines went crazy with the upbeat,energetic and amazing voices that graced the stage.Ultimately the first winner was Kelly Clarkson,giving us a edgy pop/rock vibe that we fell inlove with.Signing with RCA records she has recieved Grammy awards,MTV awards and The Peoples Choice award.

Season 2:This season proved to be a guys year,summing up the contest were the voices of Reuben Studdard,Clay Aiken and Josh Gracin.With his soulful easement and heartwarming smile Reuben Studdard nicknamed " The Velvet Teddy Bear" walked away with season 2 under his belt.He is currently getting ready to release his second album.

Season 3:The ladies ruled this one getting down to the wire were Fantasia Barrino and Diana Degarmo belting out strong lyrics these ladies were neck and neck in the American eye but alas Fantasia became the winner for season 3.In 2004 she realsed the hit song " Truth Is" .

Season 4: This season brought us a variety of sweet country tunes,rocking vibes and soulful lyrics again a mix of gender Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice would face off ,though their musical talents were different they wre both adored by millions of fans it was a bittersweet victory for Carrie Underwood as she claimed season 4.Expolding onto the country charts she has gave us hits such as "Jesus take the wheel " and " Before he cheats" in 2006 she won single of the year at the CMA awards.

Season 5:What a season!The talent just gets better and better giving us Taylor Hicks,Chris Daughtry,Kellie Pickler and Katharine McPhee.The wide variety of this season was a great change.Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee sang their hearts out and recieved the most votes out of any of the seasons so far,Taylor Hicks took home this one.

So,what do we have to look forward to for Season 6?Being a "AI" fan (as many are called) I am excited to see what happens,hopefully we get the same results as years before with talent so good that we don't want to turn the channel.We set and watch week after week as the contestants sing their hearts out and overcome obstacles,by at least the Hollywood rounds we have already started picking our favorite contestants.

We bite our lips and cross our fingers in hopes that they our so called favorite contestants won't mess anything up.It has become a huge craze throughout America recieving both positive and negative feedback.I say let the fun begin,again.
