The Crystal Palace Restaurant at Disney World

Beth Benson
After our office staff settled in at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, we couldn't wait to kick off our one and only non-working full day in Disney as a group. Our executive director had made reservations at The Crystal Palace Restaurant, in Disney World. Because this was my first time at Disney, I was very excited.

Walking toward The Crystal Palace restaurant, I was thrilled to see that it was right across the street from the breathtaking Cinderella's Castle. Sitting right by the castle was the perfect setting for The Crystal Palace. The outside of the restaurant was a southern style mansion covered in windows and included some amazing Victorian like decorative touches.

You are warmly greeted by hostesses decked out in southern bell gowns, which I give them a lot of credit, because in 100 degree weather wearing shorts, I wasn't very bubbly!

Even with reservations, there was still about a half hour wait. But when our names were called and we entered The Crystal Palace, it was worth the wait. After adjusting to the sudden drop in temperature from the air conditioning, I was floored to see the inside of the mansion like restaurant.

High ceilings covered in circular lighting and sky lights combined a great feeling as natural sun light flooded in and bounced off of the forty or so elegant pillars that encircled the inside of The Crystal Palace. Upon scanning the room as we took our seats, we were quickly welcomed by Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet! The gang from 100 Acre Wood danced, hugged, and had a ball taking pictures with us. After the characters ran off to dance around the restaurant, we headed to the food.

The Crystal Palace dinner buffet was around $30 per person. Based on the selection, it was a bit expensive, but when you think about it, you are in Disney and there are Pooh Bears and Tiggers dancing around your meal.

The buffet food included a variety of rolls, salads and veggies. Turkey, pasta, and pork were the main entrees with a small selection of sides and desserts. The buffet seemed to hold more salads and vegetables than hearty meal choices. Overall, the food was excellent and filling. The buffet area and restaurant in general was very clean. The entire staff, including the characters made our first dining experience in Walt Disney World, Florida to be a welcoming experience.

I highly recommend visiting The Crystal Palace on your magical journey through The Magic Kingdom, especially if you have children.

    The Crystal Palace
is a great place for kids. They even have their own area on the buffet filled with macaroni and cheese and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
