The Cup in D.C

The Cup In D.C.

2009-2010 NHL season is halfway done and the prized Stanley Cup is up for grabs. After last year's Pittsburgh Penguin shocking beat of the Detroit Red Wings in seven games the cup is there for the taking once again. With the NHL being down the home stretch again things are heating up, and I think that there will be a championship parade in D.C. this year.

The Capitals have a thirteen point lead over New Jersey Devils, so the Devils have to win five games and loss once in over-time just to tie the Capitals for the conference lead. That is only if the Capitals do not win or lose in overtime for the next 6 game, but when you have Alexander Ovechkin the league leader in overall points, goals, and plus minus it makes it hard to lose. Ovechkin isn't there only threat on offense; they also have Nicklas Backstrom, Alexander Semin, and the offensive defenseman Mike Green. Washington is first in the league in; overall points, goals for, and power play percentage. Sadly though Jose Theodore is struggling in the net with a GAA of 2.88 and a save percentage of .908 he is struggling this year but the Capitals keep chugging along.

The biggest threat this year is the New Jersey Devils but they are no match for the Capitals. Besides I think someone will beat them in the playoffs before the Capitals even have to play them. So I am not worried one bit about the Capitals success. I don't think any of the real Capitals fans are worried about there success.

Now I'm going to explain the Eastern Conference playoff bracket if the playoffs started today. It would be 1 seed Washington against 8 seed Boston. Washington will sweep and move on. Then it would be 2 seed New Jersey against 7 seed Montréal. I think that Montréal will upset New Jersey in seven games. Then 3 seed Ottawa against 6 seed Philadelphia. I think Ottawa will win in five games. Then 4 seed Pittsburgh will play 5 seed Buffalo. I think that Sidney Crosby will fail and that Ryan Miller will shut down the Pittsburgh offense and Buffalo wins in five. So then it would be 1 seed Washington against 7 seed Montréal. Of course I think that Alex Ovechkin will lead them to a five game series win. Then it's 3 seed Ottawa against 5 seed Buffalo. I think that if Ryan Miller plays well that Buffalo wins in six if he doesn't Buffalo losses in six, so most likely Buffalo wins. Then it's 1 seed Washington against 5 seed Buffalo. Washington will win but it will be competitive and it will go to seven games will Ryan Miller being the only thing holding the team together. So Washington is the Eastern Conference winner now to the West.

In the West I will do the same as I did in the East. It would be 1 seed Chicago against 8 seed Detroit. I'm giving Chicago the win but in six games because Detroit always steps it up in the playoffs. Then 2 seed San Jose against 7 seed Nashville. It will be San Jose with the sweep. Then 3 seed Vancouver against 6 seed Colorado. I'm giving it to Vancouver in five games because they have such a great goalie. Then 4 seed Los Angeles against 5 seed Phoenix. Los Angeles will sweep because of the goalie Ilya Bryzgalov stinks he proved that in the Olympics and Jonathon Quick rocks. So it will be 1 seed Chicago against 4 seed Los Angeles. I'm giving it to Chicago in six. Then 2 seed San Jose against 3 seed Vancouver. Vancouver wins in seven because of Loungo. So it is 3 seed Vancouver against 1 seed Chicago. I think Chicago wins in five because their first line is so good.

Now it's Washington against Chicago in a seven game series. A lot of people predicted this at the beginning of the year. I picked Washington against Colorado because Colorado had a good start. Well Washington wins in six and Alex Ovechkin scores a hat trick in one of the games. He will be the playoff MVP. I also predict that Patrick Kane gets a Hat Trick in one of the games.

Well this is how why I predict Washington to win. Also how I predict them to win they will have a long road but I think they can do it. If they can't though my second choice is Chicago to win the Stanley Cup.
