The Cure for Cancer?

Recently, there has been buzz surrounding John Kanzius and the machine he created that could possibly cure cancer. Kanzius was diagnosed with terminal leukemia six years ago. Since then, he has been receiving chemotherapy.

Kanzius says he was inspired to look for other ways to treat cancer when he would see the children in the oncology ward, sick from cancer and sick from chemotherapy. Surely, there is something out there that can treat cancer with out the painful side effects that chemotherapy causes. Kanzius wanted to discover what that was.

Kanzius, a retired radio executive, put together the first version of his machine using his wife's pie pans among other things. Once he felt that he had found something, he spent over $200,000 to have a more advanced version of the machine built.

Kanzius knew that when metal is exposed to high frequency radio waves, it heats up. So, he set out to see if he could inject a tumor with metal and use the machine to heat it up, killing the cancer, but leaving all of the other cells unharmed.

Kanzius' discovery has researchers excited, some even saying that it is one of the most promising new cancer treatments they are working on.

Using tiny nanoparticles in animals, researchers have found that Kanzius' machine can cook cancer cells to death in both rabbits and mice.

However, it could be many more years before we see this machine used on humans. Although the Kanzius machine can kill cancer cells in concentrated tumors in animals, researchers have yet to find a way to use the machine to kill the microscopic cancer cells that are often the cells that kill people with cancer. If researchers can target these cells and use Kanzius' machine to eliminate them, this could be a cure. However, we still have a long way to go.
