The Cure for a Nasty Divorce: Adopt a Black Baby

Ayanna Guyhto
Adopting black kids (especially those from foreign countries) is nothing new in Hollywood. But apparently, someone told celebrity moms that the way to get over a cheating husband or a stale marriage is to adopt an impoverished black child. And if you don't believe, just take a look at the latest headline featuring Eva Longoria's decision to adopt an infant. Nipping at the heels of Sandra Bullock (with the ink still wet on her own divorce papers) Eva planning on adopting a baby from Haiti.

At the age of 45, after a nasty divorce from philanderer Jesse James, Sandra Bullock upped and went to Louisiana and brought back little Louis Bardo. He's a cutie pie. And we're all happy that Sandra has finally fulfilled her dream of becoming a mother. Furthermore, the world was thrilled that she had someone new to love.

Similarly, sources claim that Eva's been planning on adoption for quite a while-though the timing of her revelation is quite ironic. Has her wounded pride forced her into the arms of a sudden motherhood? Or is her decision simply part of a headline-catching trend?

And if you still don't think that these adoptions are indeed becoming a trend, look no further than Hollywood mom, Madonna. Soon after divorcing director husband Guy Ritchie in 2008, she proceeded with plans to adopt little Mercy James, an orphan from Malawi.

We all know that these children deserve good homes just as any other child. But these disenfranchised little tykes don't realize that once they leave their impoverished environments, they will be thrust into the craziness that is Hollywood. Calling their new digs, the lesser of two evils might be an insulting overstatement. But the "trend" certainly does pose an interesting question: are little black babies the cure-all for a bad marriage?

Romantic experts believe that diving into a worthy cause is great for those getting out of painful relationships. Somehow volunteering at a nursing home seems to be where the experts were leaning. But adopting a black child packs a bit more of a punch than playing checkers and basket weaving once a week.

lol! Very good article. Definitely have noticed this trend and it seems almost disrespectful at this point. These actresses seem to be exploiting these kids and engaging in such behaviors for all the wrong reasons. Hey! Charity starts at home right? There are many kids looking for homes in our own country; black, white and all others races. Why not start here?
