Shampoo. Rinse. Repeat. Wet your hair completely and work shampoo into a nice lather. Working from your forehead to your neck massage the shampoo throughout your hair, paying close attention to your scalp and ends. A dirty, oily scalp can lead to stretched out, flat curls. So, get in there and get your hair nice and clean.
Rinse the shampoo, clearing away unwanted grime and leaving your hair fresh and clean.
Then Repeat. That's right, the bottle is correct. It's important to repeat because that's how you get the special shampoo treats-the silky shine, the soft, healthy glow. These are the perks of repeat. The first shampoo removes the everyday dirt, the unwanted oils, the stuff that builds up on your hair and leaves it looking dull and blah. The repeat shampoo fulfills all of your wildest dreams of bouncy, fresh, picture perfect hair.
Now that your hair is clean, really clean, you are ready for the next step.... conditioner!
Comb through that conditioner. This is the only way to do it with curly hair. Never comb your hair while it is dry... way too stressful for the curls. Dry-combing curly hair leads to breakage and damage because of all the friction. Combing your hair while it is wet and slathered with conditioner coats each hair which allows the comb to glide easily through your hair.
So, apply lots of conditioner, then thoroughly comb the conditioner through your hair with a wide tooth comb or a vented brush with widely spaced bristles. This is heaven for your curls. Not only is it a pain free way to comb out all of the tangles, it is the best way to shape your curls. This step will form your hair into beautiful individual curls and avoid the broken curl, Afro look.
Rinse out all of the conditioner then wrap a towel around your head and let your hair dry for a few minutes. (Just long enough to soak up the dripping water.) Remember not to rub the towel over your hair, this will break up the curl clusters that you just created with the conditioner comb through and leave you with frizzy fly-aways.
You're clean, you're conditioned, now get moosed!
Curling Products and lots of them! While your hair is still damp you want to add some lovely products to it. Don't let your hair get too dry, you want to lock in that moisture so your hair will have a healthy shine all day.
First, take a dallop of a smoothing, anti frizz cream and work it through your hair with your fingers. Be sure to cover ALL of your hair, top to bottom, front to back. A little extra around the hair that frames your face will help prevent those pesky fly-aways.
Next, moose. Moose is curly hair's best friend. No other product will hold your curls together the way moose does. The trick is to apply enough... not too much (that will lead to crunchy hair-not sexy) and not too little (frizzy frizzy). You want the moose to evenly cover all of your hair. Start in the front and work your way to the back, reinforcing the shape of individual curls as you go. To get extra definition on stubborn hairs wrap the hair around your finger to get the perfect shape.
Next, style it or leave it down. No need to blow dry with a diffuser, air drying is perfect.
An extra tip: don't touch it! The more yout touch and tousle and fuss with your hair throughout the day, the more you break up your curl formations.... frizzy frizzy.
All done! You now hold the secrets to wonderfully bouncy, perfectly curly, frizz-free hair every time. Enjoy!
P.S. If other people can't keep their hands off of your sexy hair, be prepared for a mid-day touch-up. Moisten the affected hair with a little water and reshape that curl around your finger!
