Monroe, Michigan's Ninth Annual Custer Week, the theme of which is a Civil War Celebration, will come to a close on Sunday, October 7th with the reenactment of the 1864 Wedding of George Armstrong Custer and Elizabeth (Libbie) Bacon. The wedding will be held at 3:00 in the afternoon.

The reenactment will take place at the First Presbyterian Church on First St. at Loranger Square, the site of the famous couple's original vows on February 9th, 1864. Other festivities for the weekend include a "Gathering of the Eagles" and a historic fireworks display on Saturday, October 6th.

Monroe was home to General George Custer and is the birthplace of his bride Libbie Bacon. George Custer will be portrayed by local Custer expert and living historian Steve Alexander. The bride will be portrayed by living historian Marla Matkin.
