The Cycle of the Rain

Bridget Ilene Delaney
The sky darkens while overhead there are hanging clouds.
No sooner than the birds stop tweeting, there is a clap of thunder.
Pouring, sounding like sizzling bacon, down pours the rain.
Earth was parched, but it is no longer with this drink.
Trees open their leaves and buds appear on flowers.
Nature sighs and with relief she breathes.

Breathing during the rain is like taking a first breath.
Even though the skies are gray, life is not covered in clouds.
Ideas flow like the fresh blooms of flowers.
They strike suddenly like thunder.
Creativity no longer needs a drink.
It is fertile from the rain.

Randomness comes with the rain.
What can be heard is nature's erratic breathing.
Upon heaven's wine the earth is drunk
And ideas are like lofty clouds.
The hangover roars like thunder
And a new day is fresh flowers.

Clean, fresh faces are smiling flowers.
A daily shower is a sudden rain.
Sounds of traffic are like thunder.
Smog clogs everyone's breathing.
The sky has filled with dirty clouds
And nature begs for a drink.

Dry throats and wilting plants plead for a drink.
Here, there are no more flowers.
Earth hides her face with the darkest clouds.
She cries the tears of rain.
The Earth once again begins to breathe
And celebrates with clapping thunder.

The angles bowling creates thunder.
They are merry with drink.
Humanity and nature once again breathe
And new life appears like budding flowers.
Everything thanks the rain
And we welcome the puffy white clouds.

The clouds have gone and so had the rain.
The flowers have taken their last drink.
One last clap of thunder causes a sudden breath.
