The Daily Grind

John Smither
As each day

And the week does slowly progress

My hope if I may

Is that the daily take is not less

On occasions

As I stand there

It is like an invasion

Other times I must ask where

For I have seen almost no one

Some days can be dull

Others can be fun

Is this just a lull?

Perhaps it is all I will get

I should have remembered my umbrella

Today it is very wet

The weather is playing havoc with my patella

My fingers and toes

Are feeling so cold

All the way up to my knees and elbows

Is it just a sign I am getting old?

If it doesn't improve soon

I am going home

It's too early though, not yet noon

Maybe this afternoon will be sunny

I will be busy

And make me lots of money

If I am working that hard I will get dizzy!

This is humorous, poignant, and thought provoking at the same time. Nicely done!
