The Dallas Mayor's Summer 2009 Reading Program in Dallas, Texas: Program Information
The Dallas Mayor's Summer Reading Program starts early June and ends in August. Children are able to participate by signing up at their local library and keeping a log of reading materials such as books, magazines and audio book tapes as well as story hour sessions. Each participating library will keep records of reading logs and track hours so at the end of the program all information will be finalized in order to award prizes. Here are a few area libraries that are participating in the Dallas Mayor's Summer Reading Program.
The Dallas Mayor's Summer 2009 Reading Program in Dallas, Texas: Dallas Public Central Library
The Dallas Public Central Library has been a long time advocate of the Dallas Mayor's Summer Reading Program. If you are a resident of Dallas County, you only need to register at one Dallas Library. The Dallas Public Central Library offers story time, children's center and recommended summer reading for youths. The Dallas Public Central Library will also host an "End of the Summer Program Party" for all participating youths. Story hour programs are held on Wednesday and Friday at 10:30am and the Summer Reading Day Program is held on Tuesdays, Thursday, Saturday and Sundays at 2:00pm. The Dallas Mayor's Summer 2009 Reading Program in Dallas, Texas: Bookmarks at North Park Central - Dallas Public Library
The Bookmarks at North Park Center is located in north of Dallas in the infamous North Park Shopping Center. This newest Dallas Library location is created just for kids to have fun, learn and stay motivated about reading. Bookmarks at North Park Center kicks off this year's Dallas Mayor's Summer Reading Program with weeklong activities, games and recommended reading lists for participating youths. During this summer, Bookmarks North Park Center will be hosting "Read and Learn" and the "Ever Child Ready to Read @Dallas" program in order to boost reading awareness and continued reading readiness with children during the summer months.
