The beautiful dandelion that many consider a blight on their lawn is loaded with minerals that are valuable to your health. The dandelion is a natural diuretic and aids digestion.

My grandmother was a very old fashioned lady that was keenly aware of the properties of the dandelion. She would walk to more isolated areas, that were not frequented by dogs and dig dandelions. She would wash and clean the tender leaves, and boil them like spinach. If you like cooked spinach, try dandelions, they are delicious cooked with onion and fried crumbled bacon. As a bonus dandelion greens are an excellent source for building tooth enamel.

Dandelions have a very high mineral content that may prevent iron-deficiency anemia. This herb also reduces high blood pressure, dandelion is rich in potassium, making it an excellent diuretic which can support the vital potassium levels that are being depleted by powerful pharmaceutical diuretics which could create potassium deficiencies.

Dandelions detoxify the system and improves your health by increasing mobility and reduces stiffness of the joints.

Most people prefer to take dandelion capsules. Dandelion extract can be taken mixed in juice or water. A combination of dandelion root, ginseng and ginger root can work wonders for people suffering with low blood sugar and works best when also maintaining a balanced diet. This special blend can be prepared from dried herbs or extracts. Suggested dose is one cup three times daily.
